OZIK by Matrix ( TP-7, Code 6, Altus, and more! )
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I really cant say, i mean the only thing to do imo is try it and see how it works with your swing. I like the EPON 460 over any driver on the market today. I do have some demo heads that are used sitting around if your interested, 9.5 w/ .5 closed face angle. -
The Japanese and their Forgings
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Wishon did a test with 12 golfers and 12 sets of irons all masked black half forged the other half cast. they used PGA tour players and the pro's couldnt tell the difference between forged and cast on a steady basis. What do you guys think about that? do pro's know less than ho's? -

The Japanese have been launching so many quality forged cavity backs and wedges in recent years. The U.S side has quite a few more cast offerings than Japan. Some old school guru club makers say things like golfers cant tell the difference. I was once told i couldnt tell the difference, IMO I can when i hit the shot perfect but cant tell during poorly struck shots. Is it the forged steel we are feeling or is it the lack of heat treating done to the head. I do know i could take 1096 steel which is considered hard by todays standards and if it hasnt been heat treated i could bend the lie and loft with my bare hands. I also know that if the anneling process was not done properly and the heat treatment was done shortly after i could break a forged club with slight preassure. So what are we really feeling here? And why does Japan do so many high quality forgings? Is it due to price point? or is it because many golfers simply cant tell the difference?

EPON: The Best Forged Steel ENDO has Ever Produced!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
i dont see the similarity, ill put the two together and check it out for sure since you mentioned it. Anyway guys, i went from the type J to the type X and now back to the type J, when my game is on, its even more ON when the type J's are in the bag. This time the black golds are giving the NS1150's a run for the money. -

Nice and high trajectory, i would guess about 25 ft up into the air and closing in on 6 secs of hang time. the feel is very nice and goes superb with the epon head, soft + silky = Yum! the spin off the vector is reading just above 3500 which needs to come down a bit, i blame that on my swing not the shaft. more opinions to come before we get it on against the others. -

launch monitor tests are scheduled in 2 weeks against other top shafts on the market. As of now my playing impressions are that the code 6 is a very solid offering with great feel and some good kick. Im playing a tipped R flex but im sure i could get along good with the firm flex. The TP-7 is nice but shorter than the code 6 yet in the same flex. what i have not done is put these up against axivs, drev's, fuji's, and diamana's yet. I will though very soon, just letting you guys know there is some truth in bighitters song of praise. -
Not sure to be honest, it does feature a new NiCrMO finish which im guessing is a bit similar to the great feel epon irons and wedges have.

Tourstage 2007 X-FW SUS630 + 455 miraged face
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It interesting to see they are cutting the face material out at that slanted angle. i wonder what that does? push the CG closer to the heel? -
Tourstage 2007 ViQ DEEP FACE Driver
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
some of these models wont be available till feb. so from december to feb we will have lots to be excited about. The ViQ drivers have been easier to hit overall than the XD, they have a more vibration absorbing feel while the XD has a traditional impact sensation by design. I would like to put the DEEP or MX up against the 460P limited when they are made available. -
forged sir.
