  1. No way... I had six J340s, at a time when finding even one was a solar-eclipse rarity... the X-500 was night and day different, and the J340 was superior in every way-- looks, feel, foregiveness, and performance... the X-500 was okay but never in the same league as the j340... My opinion differs, the X-500 was not a night and day difference, same material, overall same classic pear shape tourstage is known for and same feel, just in a different size and other subtle differences but not many at all. Owning 6 of anything and having a hard time finding them doesn't make any club a holy grail or the greatest. I assume if you ask Tiger the X500 is better than the J340 thats why he requested his first original JDI driver based off of it. X-500 is a proven classic used by tens of thousands back in the day and even dozens on tour while the J340 had much less play even in its best moment. It honestly got most of its play in the forums  The J340 has had a lot of unnecessary hype as did the 300 Tour on Internet forums. Its just the majority of the forum members don't have the chance to hit much of it so they go based off of what everyone is saying on the web. If a few top posters say its the holy grail chances are hundreds to thousands will follow. IMO There is no Holy Grail.
  2. Great review tai, I hope you get a better round with them soon, I pick up my NC-1's newly shafted with the 1150 stiff. I will give them a test run and let everyone know how it went. I wasn't a big fan of the 950 because it was too light and went too high for me against strong winds. I am hoping this 1150 shaft cures that stigma I have about NS shafts.
  3. Not trying to thread jack here, but I am also wondering sort of the same thing. I am a 1 handicap with a 109 average mph ss. I am looking at getting a 660TR, ZCOM MW64, Diamana, AD M65, or Axiv. Should I go stiff tipped or X untipped? How much to tip? The cutoff for most of these is 105 for stiff... Thanks in advance guys! I suggest the Stiff flex Axiv over any others, especially at 109mph. you could start by tipping it a quarter of an inch and play it at 45.50" tip a half inch if needed.
  4. Its just what I reccomend, Go ahead and put it in a 450+ driver you should tip it though if thats the case. This is only in regards to the 6064 but 6068 on up should be great for bigger size heads.
  5. You should see a club maker/fitter to answer those questions best for you. My take is you should use a stiff flex and start it untipped then if you need to tighten it up a bit, tip it. I would also suggest using this shaft in nothing larger than a 400cc driver.
  6. I wouldnt use the term "Holy Grail" on any club because what works for one man may not work for the other. That being said this club is IMO a 340cc X500 driver from bridgestone. The prices should have always been much lower than they have been, and it probobly all started out with one very convincing seller making the masses believe that this J340 like the 300Tour are the greatest thus making it his " Holy Grail ".
  7. the FST+ has been pretty good to me lately. That Ho may want to know that there is another version GD MB's coming out late september made by Endo.
  8. My Bag as of 05/31 Driver: PRGR Duo2 TR-X w/ Axiv 6064M FW: Tourstage FST+ UT: Tourstage ViQ U3 UT: Tourstage ViQ U5 Irons: Gauge Japan MB's w/PX6.0 Wedges: GAS1 205 Forged w/S200 Putter: Gauge Japan Eldik Ace Bag: Adidas Tour Caddy Bag
  9. I honestly do not suggest the older model Gauge Japan wedges, the black finish on the old GAS1 was a double baked finish that was very durable for a black but eventually rusted and due to the double bake the forged steel felt as hard as Vokey. Even the 4th anniversary wedges just recently released performed below my average. but.... the new GAS1 Forged is soft, made in Japan and had the 5 CNC mill marks, these wedges are so in my bag and I have had everything that is considered very good. Just recently I changed the paint fill to gold:
  10. They do not do Irons and Wedges but they are able to do just about anything to a wood and I didn't have to pull the shaft off to have them do so. They are not setup to do golf clubs so if you want yours done please PM me and I can set you up with a mailing addy and a paypal to send payment to. I would of course take quality pics of it before it ships out for all the TSG'ers.
  11. X-Drive 390cc in Lefty The new FST+ in Lefty There is also an X-Blade CB and Tourstage XCB lefty only wedges.
  12. The difference is the heavy tungsten located inside the muscle back.
  13. I tell you what guys, I will give it a try. Cosmic Airbrush the same company who did lord Vader's X-Drive said it for sure can be done its just how will it hold up after the shaft flex's a thousand times. We will see and I will keep you posted on the results and the process.
  14. Headweight is 345g's about but it feels 350+ to me cause of its size and mallet style. Perfect Weight for it IMO.
  15. Hey Bull, Dennis Mathewson has been traveling all over for a couple years and the guys who have been doing the majority of Cosmic's stuff is Chu Chu and Gary but yeah he is known world wide big time like you said. I started thinking now what else can I paint? They painted my car as well. Your V-Steel PM me I can get you the re-finish for way cheaper. Yes the bottom was sanded smooth etc.. and painted all black. here is the URL: http://www.cosmicairbrush.com/
  16. Spy pics from Pro-Support of the new ViQ2 Driver. They put a blur on the new tungsten weight configuration.
  17. 65.00 and that includes return shipping. You can select any color or pretty much any design. Its not to busy on top when looking down, the point on the logo aims directly down the target line as a visual aid.
  18. Gary over at Cosmic Air Brush Honolulu refinished my X-Drive today in a deep dark black color and relocated the tourstage logo to the crown in a metallic candy red. Before:
  19. Probably more than it costs in the U.S. I would suggest buying it state side unless there is a particular shaft option that is too good to resist. Which I don't think there is. My Suggestion to everyone is to buy the U.S Spec R5TP and insert an Axiv shaft spined and flo'd a Lil weaker to flex than you normally play also play the shaft at 45.50" Distance gains will be very noticeable. I am using this combo but in an R7-XR and its long and dumb easy to hit.
  20. By itself, The MP Series and T-Series Wedge are both $189 each shipped. Would "custom" heel grinds in the wedges be possible? Its a very expensive upgrade to have the wedges ground when compared to the price of your average wedge. They are very conservative and will not do to much grinding that can affect performance in a negative way.
  21. Its pretty much the end of Non Conforming Drivers. Within the next 12 months they will be phased out and Japan will return to the normal C.O.R rating. The R5TP from Japan is USGA conforming. Looks like TM has set something up with Mitsubishi because they are only offering Diamana 63 & 73 in most of their woods. In the Rescue TP they do have a Diamana-H option for Hybrids.
