Xxio,
Ok, I hear you. I currently play the hi 858 2 iron (18 degrees) by fourteen with the original 85 gram, s flex, graphite design shaft. I just got hold of the nike pro combo hybrid 18 degree with an ns pro 85 stiff shaft. A rough comparison follows after a short session on the driving range turf (all subjective):
feel: the pro combo felt bad, a muted click at best when i hit the sweetspot; the fourteen just felt better when i hit the sweetspot. in my subjective opinion, this was the biggest letdown of the nike pro combo. Hard to make any conclusions, but i don't think it's because of the different shafts.
trajectory: range balls used, the fourteen had a slightly more piercing ball flight, good on good hits. But the nike was not far behind. It had an acceptable ball flight (given that I am not comfortable with club at this point)
distance: inconclusive, as it was getting dark, but carry was similar (will get back to board as soon as I try it on the course tomorrow)
looks: address position: this is where the nike won out over the fourteen, as the nike is a little more streamlined. Also, hybrids seem to be a love it or hate it affair.
I will post after my round tomorrow, but again, this is all subjective.
