Just picked up the new EGG I+ 19*
Hi, I have an intended descending swing as well which is why I am a high spin player for better or for worse. I can;t comment against the named RCs as I have not tried them but against the much older RC hybrids I have hit, I will say from recollection, a lot more forgiving. I can comment with recency against the Cleveland Halo which I found to be the most forgiving hybrid until the EGG I+. Definitely more forgiving than teh Fourteen driving iron I demoed recently as well In terms of whetherh its a corss, I don;t know. What I do know is that it is more forgiving and longer then te fourteen driving iron and Cleveland Halo. The fourteen of course being more iron like and the Halo more FW like so in that sense a cross yes and a damn good cross.. but again, stil honeymoon period but I am enjoying her a lot...... :-)

Just picked up the new EGG I+ 19*
OK.. had my round of 18 yesterday and another range session tonight. Not hitting that well on the course yesterday but tonight, the ball striking was a lot more solid. Distance... this has been established and I'll comfirm, double confirm and triple confirm that this thing is LONGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!! off the tee AND off the deck! Used this off the tee 4 times yesterday, 3 were down the corridor with the longest into medium cross wind of 207m or approx 225 yards. One ended in the hazard LOL but that was the straight push right I mentioned in the first raneg session above. Consolation is that it was long into the hazard LOL. Forgiveness.. this is long of the deck.. that has been established.. I had 3 shots out of the rough..2 went straight, high and a lot longer than I would expect. the last one on a par 5 was shot of the green (out of rough) on the second shot by about 10 yards. That would have made the recovery shot off a very bad tee shot about 190m or 200 yards. On another shot out of the rough, another par 5, ball very below feet.. stuffed the shot and pull-hooked it badly left. This was maybe 300m out... thought it was very shot... I hit my next shot from 140m... that's 160m on a very bad shot... you rally can't ask for more in terms of forgiveness. At the range tonight and just off the mat... it was flying down the corridor with a very slight draw and damn long. Misses were straight right pushes. So still very much in a honeymoon but what a honeymoon it is so far... not the cheapest of clubs (both the FW and I+) but damn worth it imo and I'm playing the stock shafts so given that I will always go to some GD Tour AD of sort and I'm not needing to (yet), it ain't that expensive... :-) Finally, I mentioned in other posts I wanted a club that hits more like an iron.. well, I don't know if it does BUT I ain't finding the issues I have with more FW type hybrids. If you're in the market for a utlity and can't demo, this I reckon is a very safe calculated bet.

Just picked up the new EGG I+ 19*
Hit about 30 balls with the new EGG I+ at the range last night.. a few things first. THe M40 shaft does not play weak and perhaps of the shorter length, it plays a tad stiffer than the M40 in my EGG FW. The head or at least the one I picked up (there was only one 19* at the shop I picked mine up. They brought in a lot more 4Is) sits sqquare to slightly open. Next are subjective comments... feel... a low clickish sound on impact and defnitely not the Nike Square tin can hollow sound. Feel was soft yet firm but not a forged iron solid kinda feel which is not surprising given the design. Trajectory as you will expect is on the higher side. I hit this off the mat last NIGHT and as such, could not see what the roll was which imnplies something :-) and if I could see the landing, roll would not have been possible as it was raining and the grass is very very soft and not bermuda type stuff. So my 1 range session views and initial impressions : Stupid Long and Forgiving. Now I ain;t a 2 handicap and am just coming back to the game so a club like this is ideal. Off the range mat, about 3 or shots of the 30 or so shots went right but not crazy slice right. A staright, strong ball flight push. If I had to have a bad shot right, I can live with ths kinda straight pushes... distance was I would guess and I could not see the landing but as I am very familiar with the range and the lous range balls, it wil have been a CARRY of about 190 METERS or 200 so yards. MOst misses were pulls with slight hooks. Majority of the 30+ shots were in the corridor. Average CARRY will be about 190M or 200 yards. And I must say I have not dialed the club in yet as not many pure shots but that is the point! With fattish shots, the sole deisgn just glides off the mat to give a result much more decent than you will expect and on the thin slide, trajectory is of course lower but it still goes....That is how foriving it is. It still bloody goes! Off the tee which I hit maybe 5 shots and stopped is becuase they all went down the corridor with maybe 2 very slightly right but no fades. Just straight pushes. Feel was very pure off the face and I said let;s stop while its still good :-) This is where I am convinced just like the big brother EGG FW, the maraging steel face is the rabbit in the hat. Nothing new as Maruman had this maraging steel face tech a long time ago with the Shuttle U series. So again, still very much honeymoon period and only 1 range session and I still need to dial this in. I have 18 holes tomorrow where there are 4 teeboxes I can and will use this and 7 FW shots if I don't find myself in odd places. I am sure I will find myself in the long stuff given my game now so that'll be good to see how this performs but I have a feeling just like off the mat with less than pure hits, it will just glide off and still give more than one would expect. Definitely more forgiving off the deck than my Halo Tour and just about any Hybrid I can think of. Will update after my round tomorrow.

Just picked up the new EGG I+ 19*
Brought to my friend's club fitting shop this evening. It played to a finished length grip on of close to 41 with a C8 SW. THe Stock EGG fat rip weighs 50 grams. Took off sliht more than 1/2 and inch and now plays to 440.25 grip on an dit sthe 38 gram decadelite cord. Added a bit of lead tape in the cavity at the back fo the face to bring the weoght back up to C8.5. And it plays..... Didn;t have time so I'll take it to the range tomorrow :-)

Just picked up the new EGG I+ 19*
tonight. Just hit it in a small indoor range about 5 shots and it felt good enough to buy. 19* with M40 stock shaft. Will be taking it to my friend's shop tomorrow to reduce the length by 0.5 and add on a light weight grip to counter the SW loss and then off to the range. I have a NS PRo 750 which I am tempted to try in it at 39.5 finished length as well but lets see how the stock shaft is first which again,, feels not too bad.

PRGR Egg 4 Iron Rescue Utility 21*
I'm likely getting the new EGG I+ 3 (19*) today with the stock M40 shaft..sorry to the TS for the OT

Grips - What Do You Like?
Its gotta be lightwieght and cord for me. Light as I play my clubs 0.5 shorter than US standard so the lighter grips help with SW. Have been using the 38 gram GP DecadeLite grip for yonks.

Which Miura Irons will be closest to the Epon Pro-I
in terms of forgiveness, playability etc. It could be an older model and not necessariliy from the current line-up. I'm thinking maybe the CB-1005 or 201 but the topline for the 201s seem really thick. Thanks in advance.

Driver shaft length??
Suggestion... put the new shaft into your pulled head first and then mark off at the butt your intended finished playing length. That way you are not caught short and avoid the hassle of shaft extention. Finished length has many have answered here used to be 45 standard. It;s maybe 45.5 to 46.5 for JDM nowadays. I'm old school and play at 44.75. No right no wrong, depends on what suits your swing.

EGG Fairway Reshaft suggestions.
Hi, My first reaction to this was that if you are fading constantly, then in general speak, the shaft MAY be too stiff for you. Your driver swing speed also would seem to suggest you may be on the border of flexes depending on which shaft and brand but perhaps closer to regular. I have tried the YS6 and the Rombax and both play very differently.. to ME and the Rombax plays more one piece like than the YS6. I'm quite surprised you feel comfortable with both. That reaction is however negated by your 7I carry which is good for that SS indication I think. Are you better with your irons than woods? I am. Where I am getting at is you may be playing too stiff a shaft for your EGG? I would suggest if you want to change, try a regular and for the EGG and if you want GD which I totally suggest as does Spoon, the DI shaft is great. For like for like, I think a DI-5 would match the weight of thhe stock shaft and try the R1 tipped. If you want a 60 plus gram, than the DI-6 in SR. If you find that too low spinning, then GD has a FW shaft in the SF-6 which I would suggest in SR flex as well. GDs play and feel very different to me than Fujis. My 2 cents VAT tax included.

Me too.

Calling all Egg Spoon Users (new version)
LOL... For me and where my game is at, I just want something that goes straight and long and teh EGG is that. If its left or right, its due to my alignment or my setup that has cuase some push or pull.

Calling all Egg Spoon Users (new version)
It does swoosh but this thing is still bloody long. I have to tee lower than I do with the TEE though as this thing with its very low CG can hit it very high if tee-ed higher.

Which utility iron is the most forgiving off the deck?
Imanaged to get hold of the Fourteen 18* 2I utlity Iron last night and in a graphite regular flex. I must say, a lot more forgiving than I anticipated and it can (I say can as I obviously did not hit it well sometimes :-)) launch high for an 18*. I hit off range mats. I have it for a week and will see how it is on the course but a completely differently profile to the Halo Hybrid which is what I am looking for.

Iron shaft roundup - what's your all-time favorite & why?
When I was playing regularly, it was the pre-True Temper Project X.
