Gauge "Balde" Review
Picked up a Balde from a BST trade board on another site. Been looking at purchasing one for a while and opportunity popped up. I have a few putters here to compare it to, a 15 year old anser, SC Newport oil can and platinum, couple BG MOI proto with solid face. Never been a big fan of insert putters so the Balde was just what I was looking for. This putter is very well balanced, more then I expected. So smooth on the stroke. Much more then the old anser and newports. Finish is top notch, very much like a black chrome on custom car parts. Not to shiny, but has a nice glimmer to it. The deep look in the finish is very impressive. Feelwise this putter is very soft. More then I expected. Myself, I like a soft putter that has a firm feel to it. This is on the soft side. I believe its a combination of the forging and the milling. You can feel the ball come off the face. It feels solid. The BG proto has more a firmer feel, probably just a touch more solid to me but that is because of all the extra mass. Compared to the oil can Newport, its softer, with the Newport more of a thud. Compared to the Platinum, it is very different. Much more of a click on the platinum. Much firmer. The Balde sounds very different, a solid throck when you putt the ball. The Balde beats all the other putters in how it rolls the ball. The milling on the face works, the ball just rolls right when it takes off. I was putting with it and my g/f mentioned how very consistant I was with it. You have a good feeling with this putter that you are going to make it, maybe because it is new, I don't know. The putter seems pretty foregiving. I hit a few on the toe, heel, and low on the face to test it out. Because it is so balanced, miss**ts on the toe and heel were not bad at all, you can keep the putter in line very easily. Putts hit low on the face, i.e. hitting the top half of the ball with the bottom of the putter felt different. You could definitely tell if you hit the sweet spot or not. The ball seemed to just go as well but did not roll as good as on the in the middle. Overall, I am very pleased with the putter. Its in the bag for now. I am tempted to get the Eldik M and Giga as well to try. Higher MOI putters have helped me but I just love the classic look and feel from a Anser type putter. For the price, I give the alde two thumbs up   The finish and soft feel is second to none. I would recommend to anyone wanting a top notch anser style putter that is balanced and very soft. Pics will follow :smile2:

No problem. I let you know. Its a great shaft for smooth swingers but for some folks it just does not fit. Everyone seems to love PX but for me, they do not work and I take a good swing too at the ball.

FS: 300 ns Irons and Apex Plus Irons
Decided I want to try something new this year so I have selling a few sets of irons: TM 300 ns grinds 2-PW. Rate a 7 out of 10, will explain why. I got these from a reputable member of the forums who got them from the tour van. All standard Specs and Lies, Shafted with X100 with new GP Durometer grips. All irons except the 6 iron has ns stamps on them, but the 6 iron still has the same grind as the rest of the irons. Not sure why this is. No serial number on the 5 iron. The faces of the iron are in very good shape and grooves are very good. They have some bag chatter on them but nothing bad. Only problem with the irons is the perimeter weighting on the back of the irons have lost their chrome do to the sole grinding. Still has the shine to them. You cannot tell unless you hold the irons up to your face, but they will tend to rust alittle over time because of this. Nothing major though as you can see from the pics. The PW has a small ding on it as you can see from the pics. This is a rare set of irons, I have only played 4 rounds with them. I love them but the X100 are just to much shaft for me and I do not want to spend the cash to have them reshafted to what I prefer. Plus, the 'ho" in me wants to try something else. SOLD!!! Second set is my backup, Hogan Apex Plus irons, 2-PW. Rate a 8.5 out of 10. These were my old irons before I got into all the boards. The 2 iron has the original stiff shaft in it. The 3-PW are shafted with Nippon 950 stiffs by Larry Gibson in Houston. The set has been blueprinted. Plays to a soft stiff. Love Nippon shafts and will continue using them. They are 1 degree flat and 37.75" 5 iron lengh. With the very nice Lamkin G3 quarter cords. Most people know these clubs as they have been around a while, they are in great shape, only played about 20 rounds on them. No chrome loss or anything and grooves are in great shape. No dings or anything, slight bag chatter. Asking $350 shipped and paypaled for them, the shafts alone cost this much. You can see pics of both items at: http://michaelhlau.com/?control=2767cc3ede...000beb1458a92cb My email and paypal is [email protected] Feel free to IM me or email with any questions or offers. Only trades I am interested in are Cleveland Comp 460 with upgraded shaft, Gauge CB or MB irons, TM 05 TP, or Scratch Proto CB. Non-DG shaft is preferred. Thanks for looking!!!
