  1. To bore a hosel w/1/4" drill bit to make them like the 735 or the X tour are going to take off quite a bit of weight. AT least 3 swing weight and it could be more on a tall hosel design ( such as Vokey wedges ). Where are we gonna replace those lost weight? On the tip of the shaft? That will brought the same weight by the heel and higher CG by the hosel. The 735 , X tour and the old wilson fluid feel are basically design w/ that hole and grind them properly to get the proper weight from the drawing spec, so they don't have the above problems. As far as I know, they did this design is for feel purposes. To remove the weight on one spot by 10 grams will move the sweet spot on the other direction by aproximately 1/8". I'm not sure if we have that many of tour players can really hit at that level of precision, especially on the longer clubs. IMO, it's more of the mental aspect of the game only here, technically is not quite applicable. Because for most weekend golfer, bounce angle has more effect on the ball trajectory due to ability of hitting it precisely is rare. I can't even grip it precisely within 1/8". :smile2: BTW, Remember how the way people drilled a couple holes on the muscle of the wedges. IMO that is the best way to raise the CG without moving the sweet spot and replace some of the weight lost in the shaft tip also or lead tape on the higher spot. Just my 2 cents! Joe

Their other main production in Thayland is also Kitchen Ware! Joe
  4. No way... I had six J340s, at a time when finding even one was a solar-eclipse rarity... the X-500 was night and day different, and the J340 was superior in every way-- looks, feel, foregiveness, and performance... the X-500 was okay but never in the same league as the j340... Believe it or not! I still have one in my hand here 8.8* loft. Still up to now is one of the longest driver i've ever hit and solid feel. I can agree w/ chris about the "Holy grail" thing. If 70% of the players play w/ this club, then i would say "That's a holy grail". Joe
  5. Tipping not only changing the felx but also changing the torque and kick point, thus will change the charracter of the shaft. I need to know the whole issue why you are trying to tip it first, I can't recommend any one to tip and got blame later because they can't hit it anymore. Tipping for 105mph swing is different than tipping for 109mph swing speed, but it might be same tipping if the guy who have 105 swing speed has a quick tempo swinger, but yet no need to be tipped for 109mph swing speed if he is a very smooth swinger. I don't even know what is your swing speed, how high you hit it , etc. Not knowing the detail of your swing and what you are looking for out of the shaft...I don't think I can't recommend to put any shafts. A good shaft is the shaft that fit w/ your swing and the club to solve or reduce the problem you have previously. $500 shaft means nothing if you got the wrong spec for your individual needs. THX! Joe
  6. What benny said is the safest way to go IMO. However you need a very good bench press w/ good special vise that can hold the hosel 90* perfectly and drill it slowly one at the time till you get everything clean. Be very carefull, cuz you will not be able to feel that you are cutting through the aluminium hosel ( very soft metal ). You got to make sure you are drilling it in a perfect center from the start.I do have my own method that took everything apart and reglue them back together including the sleeve. This are the best result but i wouldn't do it if i don't have to. I have a special clamp that will hold the aluminium sleeve securely and twist the head off after heating it ( be very carefull on over heating it ) and work on pulling the shaft from the sleeve on a good shaft puller and i have a home made tool that i put on top the aluminium sleeve before i crank it to make sure that is not gonna buckle/disform. Good luck! Joe
  7. Oops My bad not looking at it carefully on your post. Been too busy lately and got brain dead. :tired: No wonder you are balooning also, it's the NVS ( low kick shaft ) If you do have enough trajectory, you definitely need to pick a stiff tip shaft, w/ a higer kick point shaft. Vista Tour 70 761 rombax BW65 GAT fr GD PM702J fr GD Those are a few that i can think of. Joe
  8. You are playing w/ NV75 tipped3/4" which IMO already tip stiff enough and on a midhigh kick point area.If you are still having a problem w/ spinng the ball to much, That means you have either a problem hitting down on the ball at impact or you have a club that has to much loft. Do you have a problem on ballooning the ball and very high trajectory? Joe
  9. None of them have that. 510 TP has a rat glue inside to adjust the head weight at around 201 grams w/ D2 w/ speeder 757 shaft. That is true!! if you put the heavy screws in the face/front area, it will reduce the thinny ringing sound. Joe
  10. You are killing me!

Better late than never , right? You are in the right track on shaft choice idea but It's all depends on his style of hitting the ball and his tempo. If he is a feel player w/ smooth tempo, he is most likely hate tip stiff shaft but yet we need to learn except certain thing if it do us a better result. I would definitely recommend him to a stiffer tip shaft and reg flex but w/ his swing speed , i would recommend a lighter shaft to increase his speed. It'll probably get him around 16*-17* launch angle w/ a spin rate 2400-2600. However the lower the spin rate, it's harder to hit it straight if he is not a consistent swinger. Plus depending on the condition of the course he is playing too ( windy?, Hard ground? etc? ) Basically he/every one of us need to negotiate with the whole element to get a perfect club. This is also why a real avid golfer who knows their stuff ussually have 2-3 sets w/ different set up. :smile1: Good luck! Joe

First, You can't be precise without a swingweight scale and measuring board. Second, Not knowing how you've hit the ball w/ your old club and how your swing style is...IMO it's impossible to tell that you'll hit the ball w/ perfect trajectory or not w/ the new set up. Definitely looking at the spec of your new set up, you'll hit the ball higher but i can't tell how much higher you'll hit them ...cuz I never hit the Ashton FW. BTW, 8*-10* launch angle on the 3 wood is a worm burner IMO. I'm not sure what to say here if you said that higher than that you baloon the ball. joe
  13. You can send the whole thing but you have to pay extra on shipping and to have them pull it and put it back on after refinishing.Joe

What shaft is on it and what grip is on it and is both club the same lenght? If they are both are the same, then is your head saying heavy...the club is the same. :smile1: joe
  15. No it has an internal weight bias....I think. Draw, Neutral, or Fade bias. Im not sure exactly what phil is talking about. Add two more, lower and higher CG! :smile1: JOe

Say if the swing weight at 38" on the 5 iron is D2, Providing the swing weight is the same at 38.5"...The flex will be 1/4 flex stiffer.Per 1/2" is equal to 3 swing weight, so if you didn't do any adjustment on the club head, the swing weight should go up 3 point and the flex should stay the same. Good luck! Joe
  17. Depends on how much tipping the clumakers tipped it. Obviously if he didn't pay attention, it could become to stiff. Remember, this is consider a heavy graphite shaft.Joe
  18. So far I have no complaint ! Most customers put them on the FW. They love the tight feel and medium ball flight.JOe
  19. For Japan issue is 29" to the edge of letter T where the Blue silk screen "FUJIKURA SHAFT" written.Joe
  20. A very tight shaft w/ medium trajectory but flat, less spin rate on the ball. Let me know if you need one! THX! Joe [email protected]
  21. Thanks for a nice offer. But I already got a couple from another fellow members. Joe
  22. Any one of you have one of this weight screw laying around? I only need one. Let me know! THX! Joe [email protected]
