The Epon 502 Forged Iron Info & Pic Thread!
I didn't see it in the ProShop, but is there any chance of getting a 50 degree matching AW? It may be a mental thing, but I want all my irons to match down to as close to 50 degrees as I can get. Mahalo Randy

2010 Golds Factory Muscle Backs!
After some more thinking and reading some of the other posts, this is what I would like: - Copper underlay - Keep it satin - Sweet spot in the center of the club - Little bounce as I have a sweeper swing - Lofts on the irons instead of 3 - PW - Lofts: * PW = 50 (I like having a matching set up to that loft and 55 and 60 degree wedges * 9 = 46 * 8 = 42 * 7 = 38 * 6 = 34 * 5 = 30 * 4 = 26 * 3 = would like the option of not getting a 3 iron Really looking forward to what gets produced. Aloha Randy

2010 Golds Factory Muscle Backs!
Personally, I like the old traditional lofts with PW being around 50 degrees.

Newest addition to my EGG family (PICs added)
After a couple of range sessions and one round with the driver, I am, so far, happy with the M-43 shaft. I get a medium high trajectory with good roll after ball hits the ground. Down the road I may think about changing the shaft. I am a 13 capper and shot 80 on saturday and for the most part it was all about the driver keeping ball in play or more often in the short grass. If you want a 3wd on steroids, this is the club. Aloha Randy

Newest addition to my EGG family (PICs added)
Pictures of my EGG family and the EGG Impact Driver: Update on the EGG Impact driver after 1st round with it Saturday. This driver does what PRGR claims it does. Normally, I average around 50% fairways hit and have at least one or two OBs in a round, which is why I went to teeing off with a 3wd. With the Impact driver yesterday, I didn't have anything close to an OB and 10 out of 14 fairways hit. Average drive with the Impact driver was probably about 5 to 10 yards shorter than what I was getting with my EMB, but I will take that. If anything changes during the honeymoon period or after that, I will update. Aloha Randy

Newest addition to my EGG family (PICs added)
Mama EGG is 43 inches. I will let you know if I decide it is time for one of the EGG family to move out. Only so much room in the bag and if the EGG Impact works as good on the course as it did at the range, something will have to move out. Pictures will be up on Saturday.

Newest addition to my EGG family (PICs added)
Just got a new addition to my EGG family, which is the PRGR 10.5 EGG Impact driver. My total EGG family now is as follows: Papa EGG - Impact driver Mama EGG - 15 degree EGG spoon Siblings= EGG 5 wd and EGG 9 wd. Back to my latest addition. Got it in the mail today and as always, great service and real pleasure to do business with TSG. Took it to the range and hit a full bucket of balls with it. I hit against what was my current driver a 12 degree EMB and the EGG Spoon. For about the first 1/2 of the bucket, I was hitting the EGG Impact driver about 20 yards longer than the EGG Spoon, but about 20 yards shorter than the EMB. That is about what I expected against the EMB as the EGG Impact is 1.75 inches shorter. I was a little surprised about getting that much more distance over the EGG Spoon though as the EGG Impact is only .5 inches longer. Dispersion was better than the EMB, which you would expect with a shorter driver, and was just as good as the EGG Spoon. So after a 1/2 bucket I am taking a break and thinking that maybe giving up 20 yards to be more consistent would be okay. Then I started hitting the 2nd 1/2 of the bucket and started hitting the Impact driver just as far as the EMB and again with better dispersion. Think it just took me a little while to get used to the shorter driver. The real test well come Saturday when I take it out on the course, but my impression after the first range session is that PRGR designed a winner in this driver for someone that wants the control of a 3 wd, but close to the distance of a standard length driver. I will update when I am done with the round on Saturday and try to get some pictures taken and posted. Aloha Randy

The Epon 502 Forged Iron Info & Pic Thread!
I would like to see comparison pics of the AF 502 and the older model. These look really good and have my interest. Forgiveness wise, what would the AF 502s compare to? All the JDM irons I have or have tried have been more players CBs, so although they are not not JDM, would the 502s be as forgiving as the Titleist AP1 or Mizuno Mx-300 (irons I have tested)? Although I really don't want to admit it, I really do need irons with more forgiveness. Aloha Randy

Inital Impressions of a new Tourstage putter (I think)
About a 8 to 9 month update. Since getting this putter back in Feb, I have tried a lot of other putters and find I really like the "what I call" grooved inserts/faces. I have tried various models of Yes, Rife and the Bettinardi FIT putters. All put a great roll on the ball, but none compare to the feel of the Tourstage M-2P. I also like a pretty heavy putter. I know I put in my first post that at 34 inches it was D7/D8, but it is really more like E0. Should have had my glasses on the first time I had it on the swing weight scale. It is probably a combination of a lot of things, but have never had a putter with better distance control. I'm sure because I am a golf club Ho, I will try other putters, but I am really beginning to doubt I will find any that will completely dethrone the Tourstage M-2P. Aloha Randy

PRGR EGG IMPACT Driver
Anyone try the PRGR EGG IMPACT driver yet? I like the concept of a shorter driver (43.5 inches) results in more pure shots and increased ball speed, which leads to longer drives and more fairways hit. Before taking the plunge and buying one, I would really like to get some feedback from people that have actually tried it. I'm also wondering how much more distance I would get over my 15 degree EGG Spoon which is 43 inches. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo Randy

Replacement shaft for PRGR EGG
Friend picked up an 15 degree EGG Spoon and 5 & 9 EGG for me in Japan. Love these clubs, but if I don't put a really slow swing on them, which is not my norm, I really hook the ball. I looked at the shafts and they are the original shafts in M-37 flex, which I found out is R2 flex. I need something stiffer (SR and maybe S range), but yet able to get good height. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated on what would work good in these heads. Thanks Randy

What is the difference between eggfw and eggspoon?
I just compared my EGG Spoon 15 degree and EGG #5 and the only difference I see is that the Spoon is longer from front to back. I think they would be a good choice as they are very easy to hit and get the ball up in the air nicely.

I'll post a pic when I get back from work.

JDM putter like old Tommy Armour IMG 5
I have found that I do my best putting with a blade type putter, specifically the old Tommy Arnour IMG5 iron master. I have added a lot of lead tape and put sugar in the shaft to get the weight I am looking for. I would really like to get a new/newer JDM putter that is very close to the same style as the IMG5. Ultimate might be if Gold's Factory made one, especially with the grooves. Haven't seen that they have one of that style though. I think George Spirits made one, but doubt that I will find one. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thanks Randy

PRGR EGG Spoon PX-03 Review
I had three EGGs arrive today. 15 degree EGG spoon and 5 and 9 EGG. Took off work early to try them out on the course. Course was pretty empty and was able to go out hit them a bunch of times. 15 degree EGG Spoon - Finally found a three wood that I could hit easily off the deck and also performed very well off the tee. Previously had a 13 degree EGG Spoon that was great of the tee, but didn't have the swing speed to get the trajectory off the deck I wanted. 15 degree fits the bill. 9 EGG (22 degree) - This is a club I have been really searching for, which is a replacement for my 3 iron. Tried hybrids and other fairway clubs with out much success, but may have finally found one that works. 200 to 210 yards that goes high and lands very soft and is also easy to hit out of the rough. Granted the rough on the course I play is nothing like the pros have to play out of. Hit some shots into 15 mph wind and didn't find that the ball ballooned at all. 5 Egg (18 degree) - Toss up between getting the 5 and 7 and decided that I would use the 5 more on the course I play, specifically 225 to 230 shots into par 5s, or par 4s if I really mess up my drive. Really looking to get more playing time with the EGGs.

Pics - Yonex NanoV Tour Forged irons
I gave my initial impressions in a different post, but thought I would start a new post and update my impressions after a couple of more rounds this weekend. My picture taking skills are not the best, but here they are: My bag with the new irons in it. Different views of 5 iron and PW If you would like some other pictures, please let me know and I will try my best. Aloha Randy

New Yonex NanoV Tour Forged
Pics will have to come tomorrow as after a range session with the irons, I went out and played 13 holes until it got to dark to see. I was having so much fun with the irons I did not want to quit. BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front): These are one awesome set of irons. I got 3-PW with NS Pro 950 shafts. Some of my initial thoughts after one range session and 13 holes of golf: Feel - These are soft, but not marshmallow soft. Solid feel, but probably not as solid as Miura and a little bit different feel than EPON, Tourstage or Mizuno irons I have had. Hard to describe, but maybe something will come to me when I hit them again, which will be tomorrow. Looks - Stunning! Pictures in Pro Shop don't do them justice. Not much offset, which I like. Almost blade like look from the top, but not a razor thin top line. Workability - I am not an expert at working shots, but believe there are not to many shots these irons can't deliver. On the course today, I was 200 yards out and had to hit a low draw around some trees. Not a problem for the 3 iron. I was also able to hit some high cuts to pins stuck behind bunkers on the right hand side of the green and was also able to hit some nice knock down shots. Forgiveness - Here is where I was a little surprised as they seem to have more forgiveness than I thought they would. I may have been having a really good swing day, but I found these just as easy to hit as the MP-58s. Playability - I range between a 12 to 14 capper. From 6-pw, I was hitting nice high shots that were almost like throwing darts into the green. Didn't really have a chance to use the 3-5 much and will have to see if I can handle them consistently. I have been battling for longer that I care to think about what type of club should I be using. For my handicap, I probably should be using GI or SGI and currently have a set of 09 Raptures. Yes I hit it high and long, but with them it is like hit the ball on the green. Today when I was playing, it was like taking dead aim at the pin. Tried pure blades, but not consistently good enough, but with these irons I may just found the right set for me. Sorry, I am now rambling, but hope you can tell that I really excited about these irons. Again, I will try to get pictures up tomorrow. Aloha Randy

Oh My Goodness!!
I always thought 10.5 degree driver was right for me. That is until I just tried a 12 degree 45.25 inch Epon Monster Beetle with a stiff Mamiya x-6066 shaft. This driver just hits flat out high bombs with no ballooning. Don't know if it is the head or shaft or a combination of the two, but I have never hit a driver so high and so far. There is a mound on the driving range at 240 yards that I hit my drivers towards. My drives normally hit at the base of the mound. With this driver, I am easily clearing it with a lot of roll. I have had two other EMBs. First was a 9.5 stock shaft at 46 inches that I just couldn't get enough height out of. Second was a 10.5 that is in my WITB. Good, but not spectacular and sold it. Went through a bunch of other drivers and just couldn't find the right one. Then I had to chance to get this one at a pretty good price. I am so glad I did. To bad EPON has changed their policy and you can't order them here now. This driver may have come from TSG as it has the TSG grip on it. Couldn't find a recent post on the EMB driver, so mods it you think this post should be else where, please move. Aloha Randy

Fourteen SF 206 or PRGR Egg 13*?
I have not tried the Fourteen Sf206, but did have a Spoon Egg 13. Great club, but it was almost as long as my driver with roll and I didn't get the height I really wanted. I really liked the feel and forgiveness, so I have a Spoon Egg 15 with not quite so stiff a shaft on its way to replace it.
