FS: Nak460/553 by JoeK; Scratch; Zodia; Bettin, Gemini proto
OK... clearing out time. All prices include paypal and UPS ground shipping to US destinations: - Nakashima 460cc 10.5* on Speeder 553 stiff flex. Assembled and blueprinted by Joe Kwok - 44.5", D4, 254 cpm. Actual Nak spec sticker included, shows 10.7 degrees and dead square face angle. Original weight was 198; Joe pumped it up to 207 to hit my D4. Two range sessions - perfect condition; best headcover going. Only selling because I still prefer my Japanese R7/I65. $400 - Royal Precision Rifle FCM 6.0 shafts, 2-PW, pulled by Joe from my Z101s. Played very few times as I switched to Gauge irons but am now back to my newly shafted Zs. Standard length, and include original Tourstage factory corded grips. 1" ferrules also included. Some residue left, but these shafts and grips are basically new. $75 - Scratch 47* forged wedge. Original specs as follow: 47 Deg loft, 62 Deg lie, 1.0 Deg Offset, 4 Deg Bounce, 35.25 Inch, D2 Weight, Tour Velvet Grip Logo Down, Satin Chrome Finish, S200 shaft, corded golf pride grip. Basically a standard setup, very good condition. $35 - Zodia CZ04 48* premium version wedge. S200 shaft, standard length, golf pride tour velvet grip, outstanding condition. Blackened finish; not sure of the other specs. $35 - KZG Gemini 10.5* 395cc prototype square head driver head (no shaft included). This is a real gem in outstanding condition. The key here is that the early prototypes have square face angles, unlike the current production models which are closed. Dark blue / slate paint, pulled by none other than Joe Kwok. Original unused KZG headcover included. Perhaps the straightest driver ever made. $125 - Bettinardi Tour DASS puttter from TKS putters. Can't remember the exact model #, but this piece was hand finished by Bob Bettinardi himself, making the top line and back surfaces (everything visible at address) a sand blasted finish. Face and sole are high polished finish per original specs. Putter was made in 100 pieces for the 2001 PGA tourney in Atlanta. Corded Bettinardi embossed pistol grip. Original unused white leather HC, and discontinued and limited edition 44 Magnum HC both included. If I didn't love my Gauge putters more I would never consider selling this, and if nobody wants it that is OK. I will entertain offers on this, and while I do not expect what I paid (close to a grand), lowballs will not be considered. - Tourstage Z101 2 iron w/ satin finish. Blueprinted by Joe Kwok on a Nippon 1050 stiff flex, 3/4" tour black ferrule. Standard length and lie. D1.5, not yet hit since the re-shaft, looks brand new. $140 Not really looking for any trades. Pictures to arrive soon! Thanks for looking.

Blueprinted Z101s by Joe K
I am no expert, but basically, blueprinting ensures consistency throughout the set to exact specifications. So in my case, I told Joe exactly what I wanted on the 6 iron (length, lie, loft, SW, shaft, and grip), and then he works up and down through the other irons matching accordingly. The shafts are measured to ensure consistent flex and weight, and when assembled they are aligned w/ the clubhead to ensure that the shaft flexes as truely as possible. In other words, every shaft will bend best on a specific plane; if the clubhead is misaligned w/ this plane the performance is less consistent. For most, myself included, this is splitting hairs. I have had stock irons all my life and never had a problem due to a shaft rotated a bit or a slight difference from iron to iron - maybe someday I will be that good to tell. But as a solid iron striker, I can absolutely feel the difference in my Zs after Joe's work.

Blueprinted Z101s by Joe K
Well, I just got my first set of blueprinted irons. When I first joined this site several years ago I had no idea what the hell that even meant. Anyways, I bought my satin Zs almost two years ago, and played them only a short time before I bought the Gauge Design 04 forged cbs. I played the Gauge over the Zs because they were on Nippon 950s, and I much preferred them to the Rifles on my Zs. I have been striking my irons consistently, and as well as I do w/ the Gauge in the bag, I prefer the smaller size of the Z, especially the much thinner topline. So off to Joe to be put on Nippon 1050s. D1.5 on the 2 iron, D2.5 3-9, and D3 on the PW. Lies were a bit upright from the factory so had Joe adjust them down just over one degree. New corded grips selected by weight. They came a day early yesterday, so I snuck in a quick bucket after work. The difference in feel is amazing. Much more solid and precise at impact. No sponginess at all. Divots were absolutely perfect. I am sold. Blueprinting is absolutely worth the cost!

WOW
That is the exact club I got a few weeks ago. I love the 340 size. As I posted in another thread, I have only hit it at the range twice (maybe 10 balls each time), but side by side w/ the R7, I prefer the lower torque on the I65 shaft. Distance is slightly better with the X, but I like the higher trajectory w/ the R. Another big advantage I give the Tourstage is the feel and sound at impact. Most definitely different than anything else out there. A subdued and controlled "hot" feel. I may give it one or two more runs, but it is quite a pricey "backup". I hope the X-Drive wins out, but if not I will happily carry my R7 into battle.

Anyone have a review on the X Drive 2????
Aah!! So I am not the only one w/ it... I think the 340 looks superb at address. I have only hit mine (w/ M65 shaft) at the range a few times, because the R7TP / GD I65 is kicking serious ass for me. I so badly want to play the Tourstage, but the I65 is suiting me very well. In fact, I was going to post the X-Drive for sale, but maybe it needs a better test period. I will say that I much prefer the X-Drive at impact - sound and feel. You really have to hit it to understand... a subdued hotness, w/ a perfect sound. Distance is identical for me (the X-Drive may be a bit longer), but I prefer my trajectory w/ the R. We'll see...

Gauge A1SP vs Gauge SM490A Pictures
No word yet... at this point I have only hit a few buckets, let alone play a round. Have not had a chance to shorten the A1 yet. Let's face it - for most golfers, you can either putt or you can't. I think I could learn how to putt w/ a brick on a stick if I had to. So it comes down to what you like to feel and look at. I do not like putters too soft, and that was my original concern w/ the SM490A (that is was too soft for me). So the cheaper forged putter sounds too mushy for my taste. But I can't argue w/ the results w/ the 490... I have never putted better with anything else. But the A1 looks better to my eye at address, and if I can get used to the heavy toe it will be my choice. Until then, I am very very confident w/ the 490.

Anyone have a review on the X Drive 2????
Well, I just got the 340 on M65. The weather here has sucked lately, but I did rush through a quick bucket on Saturday. I love it. I have previously tried the Maru (which I wish I had kept) and the 390 X Drive, but this is my favorite. Certainly the "hottest" face of a Tourstage driver, but still not as pingy as the others. The M65 is a sweet shaft. I got a nice trajectory, but the ball seemed to be rolling further after impact. I was also mashing w/ a R7 TP on I65, and a Gemini prototype on a Fuji 553. I need more time and better weather, but if I had to take one right now, I like the Tourstage because of its smaller head, and I just love it at address.

Tourstage X-Drive 340 / GD M65
Just got it! Factory fresh; hopefully the weather holds this weekend. Can't wait to put it side by side with the R7TP / I65. I hit that a few times again last night (still have not played w/ it - only a few buckets so far) and just love the way the shaft feels. Higher torque on the M, and a little lighter weight. Should be fun

Tourstage X-Drive 340 / GD M65
Well... I may be able to provide info myself in a few days if anyone is interested. Should have the 340X/M65 by the weekend

Tourstage X-Drive 340 / GD M65
I think the 340 has got to be a real sleeper. I think that 330-350 cc is a great size, but quickly got skipped over in the race to 400cc+. Depends on the profile too... the R7 is a perfect 400cc head to me, whereas the 390cc X Drive looked way bigger. I started out w/ a regular 510 on stock TM shaft and loved it. Quickly outgrew the shaft but always loved the 330 ccs.

Never heard much reaction to this driver... anyone get one, and if so any comments? Also would be interested in comments specific to the shaft. Thanks...

Gauge A1SP vs Gauge SM490A Pictures
It is not for everyone, and its menacing look is going to be too much for many. For my taste it is perfect. What I much prefer about the One over the Zero is the heel - I like the straight taper much more than the rounded edge. Chris, as for feel, the SM490A is definitely softer. I still need to cut the A1 down to 33" to really compare. By choking up on it the grip is too thin and it is tough to tell. One thing I do prefer about the SM490A is the perfectly balanced face, whereas the A1 is toe heavy. Both are absolutely phenomonal, and the only putter I have ever tried that I would say is the equivalent of a Gauge is my Tour Bettinardi.

Gauge A1SP vs Gauge SM490A Pictures
OK, so I got the SM490A the end of last year and loved it. But I only got it because at the time there were no "One" models available. I just love the shape of the One the most. But the SM490A made me overlook the slant neck (which I had not really cared about but would not have ordered if I had the choice) and shape as it is absolutely pure at contact. But when Chris announced the A1SP, I had to get one. The One head shape and a 490 insert. Well, I tried both over the weekend and the A1SP is definitely more crisp than the SM490A with its SS body, but has a beautiful muted click feel to it. I think I will prefer it on longer putts for distance control. They are both beautiful, but the A1SP is the nicest putter I have seen to date, with its combination titanium colored metal and black accents. It is 34" and I need to cut it to 33" to fully decide which I prefer, but don't expect to see either one on the trading forum :)

Gauge Design A1SP Pics
Will do... give me a day or so. Putted a fe on the carpet, and that 490 insert is the real deal. Overall, it is not quite as soft as the SM490A, but I think it provides more feedback. I will probably hack it down to 33" to match the SM490A, which gets me right into my preferred setup. More pics to follow...

Gauge Design A1SP Pics
Just got mine. Very beautiful in person. I would describe the color as titanium in terms of color. Nice matte finish w/ a subdued hue. I have wanted a Gauge One style putter for a while, and have done very well with the Gauge SM490A, but aesthetically this is the putter I have been looking for. Hope I can putt as well with it as the other.
