Nippon 1150's are available!
Yes, the obvious difference being weight. However, I have not hit them yet. I will give them a try and let you guys know what I think. I can tell you that I imagine they will play 1/4 to 1/2 flex stiffer due to weight, but they will still have the same great feel that Nippon has to offer. Paul

What are the best Japanese shovels out there right now?
Miura MT-001 and Mizuno MX-23's would be my first suggestion.

remove chrome
Muratic acid or what is more commonly known as hydrochloric acid. Very potent stuff. Home depot carries it. It is used for etching concrete and for use in swimming pool cleaning applications. Do not breath or let it come into contact with your skin. Use in an open area. You can drop the head in for a few minutes in a plastic container. If you have it on a shaft be careful, because it will eat the chrome off the shaft as well. Good luck and be careful! Paul

striking ball on the heel.
If it is in your swing, you may be leaning into the shot a little too much. Your head could be moving out toward the ball and/or you could be up on your toes at impact. You may try to hit off your heels for a while and see if that makes a difference. Have you checked your measurements by Ping's static chart? If your swing is sound, you may have clubs that are slightly too long and/or slightly too upright. I have been taught several ways to fit players, but over the years I have come to realize that unless you have a really odd swing, you should be pretty close to Ping's chart. I have seen too many people get fit into clubs that are too long. Of course, it is hard to say without seeing you. You may need to go to another fitter for a second opinion if your swing is sound. Good luck, Paul

What graphite shaft is Tiger using in his woods?
Does the Fuji proto look identical to the Diamana? Because the shaft in his 3 wood was silver with the blue oval just like the Diamana.

authenticity of the 1 of 15 ever made EL NINO shaft?????
Of course I am! Just giving out a dose of propaganda. But seriously, there is no difference of quality between the shafts one tour player may have to the other. The difference is how they fit that player. It is my belief that Mitsu will make a strong move in the US market, because of the high quality of their product. Then they may offer more shafts to the public, as in Fuji's case. I may be wrong, but that is just my opinion. Of course, it all depends how many wins they get under their belt here and how quickly it is done as to its impact on the US tour. Both the players and the market are fickle like that. Paul

authenticity of the 1 of 15 ever made EL NINO shaft?????
Mitsubishi is just hitting the US market this year and already has 5 of the top 8 in the world using their shaft. Don't speak too soon. I remember when Fuji did this to other brands.

Tour Issue Fusion
A friend of mine has a Fusion driver from a certain local PGA pro (I won't say his name, but he was a Ryder Cup captain). The driver has the stickers from the tour van on the Speeder shaft. It is a 10.5 at 44.5 inches and in pretty good shape. It is an X-flex tipped 1" and feels like a telephone pole. Does anybody know the going rate for one of these off the tour? Thanks, Paul

np99 vs 970
Bernard, I have played both clubs at one time or another and would say the NP-99 will be easier to hit. It will be easier to get airborne and is slightly more forgiving than the 970. However, the 970 will feel more solid and will be more workable. Probably the closest thing to an old persimmon fairway wood, in that respect. The 99 may be longer, but it really all depends on the shaft selection. I hope this helps. Paul

Pureing Process and a bunch of Questions--->HELP
"Flo" stands for flat line oscillation. When you "spine" a shaft, it may have the human error involved if it is simply installed where the mark is placed. However, if you take the shaft and add a laser pointer at the end (after it is spined and the head is temporarily affixed), when you twang it in whatever direction you desire (NBP to target or hard side to target) you can manipulate it to where it will not wobble. Basically, you can tweak it to where it will bounce on a straight line. This will give you either the most accurate results or the fastest release of the club, depending on how you like it. Accuflex manufacture their shafts on a mandrell. The process is called fillament winding. I have tested these shafts and no matter how you turn them, they don't have a hard or soft spot. However, I have talked to several manufacturers and they claim that there are positives and negatives to any manufacturing process. So, take that with a grain of salt. I hope this helps. Paul
