  2. ethan- lot's of threads over the past several months in this forum thoroughly discussing these clubs; you might want to do a search for these while you're waiting for replies. jeff
  3. fyi, the RC BBD super ss pro and super ss heads pictured in jk's first post seem to be flooding the market - several on ebay, both assembled and head only, going for much less than the $200-250 jk's source quoted. jeff
  4. I have the brushed nickel finish and they look and feel great; ding pretty easy though - I recommend club covers. Also, got the round head shape, similar to Mizuno MP and Callaway. I prefer it to my old Vokeys' shape for sure. As far as playability goes versus Vokeys, I guess the fact that I eventually opted to have the soles on my Vokeys reground to make them more playable for me (a 962 grind on the 52*/8*, a M-style grind on the 56*) should tell you my opinion of the stock Vokeys. Naturally, as all my preferences have been incorporated in my Scratch wedges, they are much more playable for me than the stock Vokeys. Jeff
  5. jk- I thought there was a 14* as well (or can these heads be adjusted like the SS-07)...what is the difference between these heads and the NP-99 and SS-07? Also, I've seen a type-H and Type-N BBD; which are you getting and what is the difference? Depending an the answers to these questions, I would be interested in a 14* with a Fuji shaft (TBD) installed by you and possibly an 18*. Jeff

BTW, the Hogan video was on the Golf Channel again the other night. If you have TiVo, you can set it to record all of his stuff that comes on. Jeff

Have both the Hogan and Snead tapes, his original instructional tape with David Glenz, and the "Eight Step..." book. Was disappointed by his commentary in the Hogan and Snead tapes; was expecting something a little more in-depth or insightful. Also, there is some weird stuff on the Hogan tape such as Jackie Burke saying (with a straight face) that Hogan deliberately hit his driver on the neck to make the ball move left to right (with a persimmon head, that must have cost him 20 yards!). Best parts are the swing sequences. As for his book, McLean's writing never grabbed me either. Jeff
  8. If you're a Hogan fan, in addition to Five Lessons, try to find the Maximum Golf book and video by John Schlee. He studied with Hogan and bases his teachings pretty much on Hogan's technique. Also, Play Golf the Wright Way by Mickey Wright, mostly because Hogan admired her swing. For an interesting take on the golf swing, pick up David Lee's Gravity Golf. Some interesting theory, but no notable players work with him, so I wouldn't go crazy trying to learn from it. A very good read with some good instruction is Let 'er Rip by Gardner d**kinson. A life-long swing junkie who learned from Snead, Hogan, Middlecoff and others. Has some great stories from the tour circa the 50's through the 70's. Jeff
