  1. I've used a NC R580, R580XD and XR-03 and all are longer (once I've matched the right shaft) vs. US retail.

I had my first experience with HI-COR last October. I played the last two holes with a R580 (.86) and XR-03 with comparable set-ups. My drive on 17 with the R580 landed at 291 yards and it didn’t feel solid (mechanics not club). However, on 18 with the XR-03 (normal conditions and playing a NXT Tour)....I drove the green. 329 yards. I've never done that. Checked my Nikon rangefinder three times. I’m unclear on differences in design/face and technology but I was impressed. Now I’ve picked up a R580XD (.86) and sometime soon will compare all three.
  3. Sorry but I’m skeptical. Golf Digest’s US test are swayed but ad revenue as are Golf Magazine. It’s an old practice in the business. Let’s face it the OEM’s have exhausted driver design at this point. A conforming head beating a Hi-COR… hard to believe. If so I’ll ask NASA to hire them.
  4. Based on condition: $175-$350. Also, is it certified? Post pics for a better response.
  5. That Napa is sick! ..minus all the crap on the bottom. Also, love the first circle T. Best Anser knock-off ever!
  6. Nothing. Go for the proto look. Simple is better.
  7. Changes with the season (weather, greens, etc.) 8802 > Napa > DFX Blade > Anser 4 > Cameron SS Newport Tend to go heavier in the early sping and fall.
  8. Pitbull - Love the classic design on that Mac. Very close to the 8802. Third!!! Looks good. How is the "feel" with this insert?

Looking for an import blade. Similar to the Cameron Napa or Wilson 8800 series. Any recommendations?

YS-6 Stiff (not the 6+). Works great in the R500 heads. Look for a cheap pull on eBay. Just make sure it's around 43" and it wasn't pulled from a Titty or Cally.
  11. Easy to hit...only have experience with domestic. Callaway (Original) Steelhead (4+). Second...TaylorMade's 200. You can find them cheap on eBay. Great off the deck and simple from the fairway. Nothing exotic…just point and shoot. So nice to be somewhere and not having to worry about being banned! :tsg_smilie_rolleyes:
  12. Thanks for clearing things up. I was fitted last year thus the reason for the YS-6 & 569 TS in both of my drivers. Just got confused with the XR-03 since it was never released in the States. I will note your response to my stupidity was much kinder than what I'd expect to receive from "somewhere else". If anyone has any info on the playing characteristics of the XR-03...it would be appreciated.

I want to re-shaft a XR-03 10.5° (Japan with TM-Plus S). However, I cannot find any specs on this driver. The shaft label noted SW was D-1. I noticed that most have installed shafts in the 70g-77g range. Is it because the head is very light? (versus R580 or R580XD) Any recommendations or comments would be appreciated.
  14. Going overseas for 3 weeks & want to see what the deal is with .86 drivers. I have access to: - R580 - R580XD - XR-03 For those who have hit them...which is longer? Comments welcomed.
