  1. Unfortunately no one knows for sure that the R7 Forged are actually forged, finished and made in Japan - I tried to contact Taylor Made regarding this issue a month ago, but as expected, they would not tell where they are forged and finished. Endo does not forge nor finish them. Miura does not either. Mizuno for sure does not. Srixon neither. So there's a good chance they are finished and forged in China or Taiwan - but they can still feel awesome and perform fantastic for you. I also have own the cast TM R7 Tp (a fantastic set of cast irons BTW), and they are for sure cast in a cheep Chinese or Taiwanese plant - but they still perform great. Just felt I had to tell you that nobody really knows the true origin of the R7 Forged irons. Not trying to degrade your new set of fantastic irons, just telling you the truth about their origin. Taylor Made guys are the only one who knows the real origin of the R7 Forged irons - and chances are, that they are NOT forged nor finished in Japan, but in China or Taiwan.
  2. Congrats with the Federer win yesterday, I hope he will go on to beat the great Pete Sampras's gran slam record I'll play more tennis than golf this winter season, so I'm starting to watch some Tennis on the TV. Love Federer......I'm a big fan of him also. Will buy 4 Wilson rackets, the same Federer is using (so they say, but I know they're not TOUR ISSUE rackets.........I only know this because I know a bit about Golf gear by now .......... Currently play with 4 of the old classic Wilson Pro Staff, that Edberg and Sampras played with in the late 90's and early 2000. I'm also a bit disappointed in the way the new Tourstage irons looks on these pics......I'm down to Epon AF-301 and Miura CB-202 for the Spring 2008 season. I only buy brand new stuff, so unfortunately you're not going to sell me yours Still think the AF-301 looks great, even though it's NOT a zero offset thin top line players cavity back set like the Miura Cb-202 is. My all time favorite iron cavity back based on looks alone must be the Miura Cb-202. Haven't seen anything that comes close to this set........maybe the ONOFF MIura forged CB 247, but they are made in shiny chrome and that's a NO NO for me.
  3. WOW - so Niimi from Endo was right when he told me Epon would release a US/Euro site in a short matter of time. Excellent, now us with not so fantastic Japanese language skills can also check out and read about the great Epon products on an official website and not just from the TSG community - awesome We need an Endo and Epon smiley btw.........
  4. Great - looking forward to following the process........please post plenty of pics, Chris
  5. Ohhhhh my - it looks great C Only thing is that it lacks a site line - I have to have a site line on my putter. The sole has the same shape as the Scotty Studio putters......it bends towards the ends. It's an ace this putter ! I just got my Bettinardi BB8 1. art. DASS steel with FIT face. It's an absolute beauty - never seen a better made putter in my life This one from Gold's factory however looks smashing too, C - I might have to order one for the Spring Season 2008 - not hard to tell this putter is about HIGH quality and perfect craftsmanship too
  6. My friend was a 14 handicap last year, when he bought the Miura Cb-201 and played just fine with them. His coach told him they were far too demanding for him (my friend is only a decent iron player). Then he bought the very forgiving Ping I5's (from me - we are about the same height and arm length) and used these for two month and NOTHING happened. His handicap stayed the same, in fact he scored a bit better with the Cb-201 set. Chipping is much better with smaller cavity back irons - so what does this prove.....nothing really. Just that you don't need ultra forgiving shovels for irons to play good golf, even if your a two digit handicapper.
  7. CB-202 has a slightly thinner top line than the CB-201 with a rounder toe to give it a sleeker look. Also new are some minor adjustments to the sole (added bounce) and a more round leading edge to improve overall playability and avoid too much digging.
  8. Tiger Woods PGA Tour is OK for me, not great but better than anything else out there :)
  9. Have you compared them to Scratch custom made custom grind wedges yet ?
  10. Better late than never, I guess - the post is 2½ months old Happy B, Gocchin
  11. Me 2 I hate it when I get a link referring to a Japanese site, and all I see is these odd signs and I sighhhh and give up I'm thinking of starting following a 3 year basic Japan course at the univerity of Copenhagen to learn a bit Japanese. According to a friend, it's a very difficult language to learn, but so is a Arabic
  12. Miura Cb-202 USDM will be VERY VERY VERY hard to beat - in fact you can test this up against every single players CB iron ever made and it will still be very hard to beat. Only the use of fusion-spin welded hosels and two piece forgings might be a problem to a few select people - besides this fact, the Cb-202 is as good as it will ever get, when you look for the best of the best combination of design, satin finish, thin top line, zero offset, small sole with a rounded leading edge, feel, durability of finish in a forged club, resale value and chic bling factor.
  13. The Epon AF-301 are S20c - I'm asking about the Tourstage X-Blade Cb 2008, which also are forged by Endo. Are they made from S20c and are they double pressed like the Epon Af-301's are ?
  14. Do you happen to know if Epon double press forged them from S20c carbon steel like the Epon AF-301 ?
  15. You're welcome, Chris As I say, I was a bit surprised that the test will actually happen in real life. Not that I doubted it, but WOW - it will take a lot of clubs and hard work to conduct such a big test. Koudros to you Chris for doing it - you have my utmost respect
  16. Not everyone feels comfortable over a hybrid wood like club. Do they hit it like a wood or like a long iron ? People tell them to hit it like a long iron, but it still looks like a small wood head. This means a lot feel more cofortable using a more forgiving like long iron with large cavity pocket and sole for added forgiveness. I prefer the look of a long iron, but still hit my Titleist 585H and Adams Idea pro hybrids pretty well. I'm definitely going after the Epon AF-501 or the Tourstage X-ut driving iron for the next season. I control a long forgiving iron better than a hybrid head.
  17. I just tried to make a poll with all the big contenders in it. I must say that the new Tourstage X-Blade CB 2008 also looks great with a hybrid iron from the same series to accompany it
  18. Looking good......so many great irons to choose from. Like the color scheme of the Tourstage X-drive......
  19. By the way my next sets for the 2008 Spring season will be: Epon AF-301 JDM, Srixon I-701 Tour US and Miura Cb-202 US Sets I will consider: Tourstage X-Blade CB 2008, Fourteen TC 1000 and Taylor Made Forged Tp 2008
  20. Please vote and feel free to place a comment stating WHY you picked that particular set of irons. In my world a players forged cavity back set has to have: 1. Thin top line 2. Little bit of offset 3. Thin sole 4. Small cavity 5. Medium to small size club head
