  1. I understand these are on the horizon or may be out already. Any news?
  2. I would add that the 4 and 5 are very easy to get up. I hit these better in the AF301/BG combo then any others. I am a decent ballstriker losing ,ost of my strokes with wedges and a few missed fairways. I find the this combo deadly accurate.
  3. I only have the 4I. Typically I avoid this club at all costs, but I intentially played it twice on Sunday. In fact I am glad that you mentioned it. I have a problem with getting long irons up in the air and sometimes pull them. This 4I was rather easy to hit. Dispersion wise, too early to tell. I like what I experienced on those two shots though. More tomorrow.
  4. Anyone have these and can compare to the X-Type?
  5. I don't know yet. I want to log time with both and form and opinion. I think the Roddio shafts are smoother as you would expect from graphite. I would love to put the Roddios in the AF301, but I am not sure I can do that. The Roddios are a lighter shaft than the BGs. The Roddios are more lively than the BGs, but that doesn't mean performance. Hope fully I can comment more this weekend. I may sell the JPX/Roddios only to not disassemble them and to fund the purchase of new Roddios for the AF301s. The JPX/Roddio combo is so good, I don't want to experiment on them and mess them up. Any interest?
  6. Have a few rounds on the new AF-301s with Black Gold S flex softstepped once. D1.5 SW, 1/4" short. My SS is about 86 with a 5I. Average to strong tempo. Looks Class all the way around. Super clean and lean. Great setup with just the right size of head. Confidence, but a light appearance. I had the Type S in the Spring and these set up much better. The Type S seemed too short from head to toe. The new logo is pretty nice. Some may think it is too commercial or mainstream looking. I like it though. Feel As many have described, the feel is all Epon. Super solid feel yet soft at the same time. Butter, well maybe harder butter. Flush hits are super smooth with ample feedback. The feel is so solid that it is disturbing in a good way. Since this feel is so rare, it catches me by surprise. The BG shafts seem to smooth it a bit more....They are a great shaft for these heads. Performance Really accurate. Nice trajectory that I would consider mid to high. Draws are easier than fades. Ball flight is up quikcly, flat flight and nice drop. No ballooning. Dispersion is very good. I tend to miss on the toe. I really find these rather forgiving and little loss in distance. Mis**ts are felt and identifiable, but again I don't feel all that much is lost, at least how I miss. I work the ball very little, so I am not the best to comment. Distance is better than I thought. Having a few sets with stronger lofts, I expected a drop in distance. Not really. The BG shafts seem rather long and I am very happy with the distance. Having never played Muira's I can't compare. All I can say is that I am very happy with these and will continue to play these for some time. The feel and performance is top notch and really I can ask for much more. I am playing Congressional tomorrow, so lets see what they do in the US Open and Tiger venue!
  7. What do you think of the sole grinds?

Anyone heard of these? Looks like the website is www.crazy-inc.com, but it is down. Expensive shafts and kinda cool looking.
  9. How does this finish wear?
  10. I have the AF301s and had the AF501s when they were named Type S. I wouldn't characterize the AF301s as not forgiving. I would say they actually are fairly forgiving. I didn't like the Type S, as they seemed to be too short in length from heal to toe. They also felt soft like forged should, but not as solid as the AF301s. The 301s have a very different feel to me in that they are super solid and soft at the same time...Hard to explain, but unique to Epon IMO.
  11. Thanks for the opportunity. It was a fun experience to see what everyone could come up with. There should be several contest throughout the year! The more that we have, the more creative we will become!
  12. I have tried to by single shafts for my wedges, but Chris said it isn't possible. I think this is due to a minimum order that wpuld be required. I have also checked around, but I can't find a source. Any ideas?
  13. Guys, I have talked about the Roddio I-10s for some time now. Likely I will install them in a set of Epon AF-301s on order now! Search around for the thread.
  14. What is the best method of determining CPM and flex on existing JDM equipment? I remember a post in the past that spoke about this?
  15. I have been thinking about this topic for quite a while. I know that GI clubs are designed to be more forgiving, easier to hit, launch faster, etc. By I don't understand why the loft progression is so severe. Here is a comparison of the Mizuno JPX E500 irons, with the new Epons. Club JPX 701 501 301 3 20 ? 20 20 4 22 21 22 23 5 24 24 25 26 6 27 27 28 30 7 31 31 32 34 8 35 35 36 38 9 39 40 41 42 PW 44 45 46 46 Now I know that club manufacturers realized that most golfers wanted more distance, so they started a campaign a few years ago to increase the image of their products by strengthening the loft. In some cases the 5 irons or today approximate the 3 irons of yesterday. If that is the case, who can hit a 3I which is really a 1 or 2 iron? Not a high handicapper. Questions I ask to myself....What does a player with a slower SS do? They don't generate enough SS to hit long irons well. So hey buy a hybrid? What does a player do if they are a mid to low HC, want forgiveness, but not the strong lofts? Bend the loft, but get more sole bounce? Buy a shaft that increases trajectory to overcome some of the strong loft? I can't make technical sense of this, but I can think of marketing reasons. Any thoughts?
  16. I am selling this set of irons pulled directly from my Mizuno JPX E500 irons by Chris when brand new. Plastic still on grips. Never been swung. Tips are in perfect shape, juts need prep before installing. As fas as I know carry same specs as normal 950s with higher trajectory. Standard length, S flex. $125 shipped conus.
  17. Does anyone have the ability to check into this. I was told with the last set of BG that I had the it was the long irons had the shafts heavier than the short. The webiste for TT list the weights 127-112, not the other way around.
  18. My understanding is that the heaviest shaft is one for the longest club and weight descends from there. Typically these are sold pre-length and that also descends. So it would make sense that it is an attempt to frequency tune the shafts so when installed the frequency curve could be there.
  19. Chris, Everyone is waiting for your initial reviews of these new irons!
  20. Can someone help me understand why this is a good thing?

    What do you have?

Steve, So are we to assume the 3W is working? Bob
  23. I had a custom fit tour DASS 3 slot from Bob. Very solid. Beautiful workmanship.
  24. Definitely a club for a person hitting a standard lie. I couldn't play it because the sole is so flat. I am 5-2 and that would lead to some crazy thin or hooked shots.
