  1. Tourstage X-Drive 405 or 435, deep face, low spin, not high ball flight. Epon 415 Technity or Epon 380 or 420 Technica... ultimate feel and 1.5 open I think is doable. ZR-600 440cc, fastest ball speed measured, deep face, piercing ball flight... a favorite of all Srixon Japan pros
  2. My point exactly. I've been trying A LOT of wedges lately and so far nothing beats the look, feel and performance of the Epon X Wedge. Will be trying a Sky Dream Jump wedge and hopefully Chikara soon to see if they can stand up to the Coppers... ^^

It's a cross between the X-Blade CB and ViQ Forged size wise and target audience. Forged by Endo so you can definitely expect feel and quality. To see them in action and from the topline view go here and watch this: http://www.golfdigest.co.jp/golftv/gear/it...n/070515_02.asp Seems to work best in IE, could't get it to work right in Firefox for me. The Yururi Gekku irons also have a smaller compact head and pure feel like the type J. Soft and reasonably forgiving as well.
  4. Choice Japan magazine decided to do some really detailed measurements of current model drivers. One of the measurements was MOI using an Inertia Dynamics Moment of Inertia Measurement device (all 60 models were measured on the same device for consistency). There's been a lot of talk and hype about MOI and how it affects forgiveness and performance of drivers. Here is a breakdown of the measurements for your reference.
  5. Momoko Ueda is one of the JLPGA's latest sensations. She's a Callaway girl and hits the Hyper ERC and Japanese spec X-Tour's. She recently won her first pro tournament so she's been getting a lot of exposure. In this video she's a guest on Ayaya Golf, a show hosted by Hello! Project idol Aya Matsuura (who absolutely bites at golf but has quite a few pros on the show as guests). The show is in Japanese but the basic idea is, Momoko-chan is asked to take part in a contest where she can win prizes like a years supply of drinks and a trip and other stuff. What she has to do is she has 10 balls/shots and must land them in 10 different 10 yard zones ranging from 150yards to 250yards. If she can land all 10 balls in all 10 different zones she wins all the prizes, 9 zones win only a few prizes etc.... You can see her hit her irons, woods and driver. Reasonably interesting to see her distance control (^_^) Download Momoko Ueda on Ayaya Golf here If you have problems playing athe files please download VLC Player here which plays pretty much everything.
  6. Sky's the limit for Gold's putters my friend... can be anything you want!
  7. I like the flames! And if it works, that's what counts right? (Well I guess looks do count too! ^_^). Good looking face on this head though, more shallow than what I expected.

More MOI would typically mean more forgiveness but with iron MOI's being so small in the first place the single digit percentage increases would be noticed only minimally unlike drivers these days where some have increased over 1000+ MOI or 25% even over older generation models. That said however, manufacturers are finding ways of increasing MOI through different head designs in irons so more and more are beginning to advertise these numbers now that MOI is all the rage. Even Golf Gear, one of Japan's premier equipment magazines have started writing a lot lately on MOI increases for drivers and irons.
  9. Sorry should have mentioned that... two seperate players... the red dot being a pro and the green a low handicap around 7. You can see they are pretty even distance wise with the short irons, in some cases the 7 handicap is longer by a few yards than the pro, but the gap widens in the pro's favor for long irons. The big bubbles with the actual info and yardage is that of the pro's.
  10. Sasaya-san has pretty much operated seperately from GD/G-field all along so no change.... he will continue making awesome putters and tuning occasional Gauges that he was involved with tuning or modding in the past. His heads don't come from GD as far as I know.
  11. That looks amazing. Must be so easy to line up. The head must be over 380g!! So clean looking too.
  12. That is so clean and hot... the finish is beautiful. Another masterpiece from Sasaya-san.
  13. Very nice looking FW... with the Graphite Design shaft too. Amazing!
  14. 3 rounds of 18 with them plus range time at least two to three times a week for the last month... I guess they are pretty durable in the way they wear if it only looks like half a dozen shots!
  15. August's Golf Gear issue included a nice DVD with Kato pro giving impressions on some of this year's model wedges. He puts each wedge through 4 tests: 85 yard full out shot 30 yard approach shot Rough shot Bunker shot I ripped and encoded 5 of the wedges including Cleveland's Miura Forged 588, Tourstage X-Wedge 2007, Fourteen's MT-28 J-Spec, Mizuno's MPR, and Srixon's WG-706. Video is obviously in Japanese but you get to see the wedges in action as well of lots of slow-motion shots. Around 3 minutes each clip. If you have problems playing any of the files please download VLC Player here which plays pretty much everything. Here are the videos to save to your drives. 16. So I collect wedges almost like I collect putters. And while I rotate putters in and out of my bag in the search for my ultimate putter, I find that the Epon Copper X Wedge has been a fixture in my bag for over a month (since the day I got them!). I love the copper finish. It not only makes it look exotic but it makes it the softest wedge I've ever hit. Spin has been perfect, not too much not too little. I originally had them bent 4* flat but as I developed a more upright swing, it caused me a problem on full out shots so I moved them back to 2* flat which have been perfect for me in every kind of lie, opening the face, chipping or full out shots. I plain love the feel. Nothing quite like it yet. I haven't hit quite as many shots as idrive but I thought I'd show their beautiful wear after a month of constant play (at least constant for me!^^). The first time I hit a shot and the copper scuffed off I was sad... but as I hit it more and more it was like making a work of art... you can really see how you hit the club by the way it wears, yeah I don't always hit center! Looks awesome. I'm very happy with these wedges and so far nothing has knocked them out of my bag even though this year seems like it's the year of new and hot wedges!! I've had quite a few others hit my wedges and most of them have proclaimed "SOFT!!" First two pics are what the wedge looked like new... rest are now. I've also been hitting them with 75g Graphite Design Tour AD shafts. I'm very happy with them. Honestly I think the shafts enhance the feel.
  17. I definitely do. I don't like chunky but too thin also affects my confidence.
  18. And don't forget Epon! For me I like 5, 6 and 15... ^^

I know that Endo was forging RC and probably still are. Chris can confirm for sure. Like the RC SFI which looks just like the Type X. Those CV Blades indeed look like X-Blade CB2...
  20. Waggle decided to do an impression of 2007 wedge models. I won't go into detail on all 19 wedges but I'll post their address pics here for reference. They were broken in to two categories... Japanese magazines commonly use these kind of categories for irons and wedges. The first category is called "Automatic", basically you hit the wedge and it goes straight and easy... there are 8 wedges in this category Second category is the "Control" and close to the pin category. These 11 wedges are made for players with great control and desire the same in the wedge.... Gonna post the pics first but I am updating this as we go.... Automatic: 1. Wilson Dyna Power Turf Rider - Forged S25C 56/14 2. Crews Golf W-701 - Forged 8620 56/11 3. Srixon WG-706 -Forged S20C 56/12 4. Ping iWedge - Stainless 46/13 5. As we saw a couple of months ago, Ai-chan has started using a Studio B SB-5 with prototype insert dubbed the Ai54 putter. 2 years ago she had been using a PX-Blade and then a 2 Ball but now she's back with Bettinardi.

Guys guys, I think we've gotten both your points. If you'd like to discuss your opinions of copyrights further, please take it to PM's. Let's keep the thread on track again. Thanks. I've got a load of new Japanese magazines in tomorrow, August issues... let's hope some of them have some MP-57 previews!
  24. Hi Henry, remember just because I posted that report doesn't mean that ALL Hyper ERC 9.5* lofts are really 11.5. It was just that one they grabbed off the shelf to test... that aside, all this positive feedback makes me want to try one too!! ^^
  25. I often hear a lot of people say, "I got a new set of irons and lost 5-10 yards over my old set!" Many times people seem to say this without looking more closely at factors like lofts and shafts. In my short time playing golf, I've come to learn it's not that you can hit your 7 iron 180 yards or 140 yards.... it's that you KNOW you can hit your 7 iron 180 or 140 yards. It's all about understanding your irons and how they perform for you. Japanese irons have been often applauded or dissed for having lofts too strong... too weak, lofts all over the place. It's about finding the right shaft to get the type of ball flight you want then growing and learning with those irons... I was reading this article about some of the lofts in JDM irons and the distances they produced which made me realize I really have to know what each set of irons I try can do. I can't quickly dismiss 7 iron A because it only goes 140 yards whereas 7 iron B went 155. I thought I'd post a scan of that article here for you to get an idea of some of the different lofts and distances of a sampling of some JDM irons with their stock shafts. A pro tester is hitting all of these irons for consistency and the numbers are: # Iron Distance Ball Speed (m/s) Launch Angle Spin Apex (highest point) Lots of factors affect these numbers, most notably loft and shaft.... so this is for reference only (they don't even list the lofts of the clubs but we can tell which ones are stronger and weaker... ) The irons are also categorized the same way as the Top Line reference...
