  1. Yes thats right my 2008 have the non conforming grooves, I saw a set of the tour authentic ones recently. But very hard to find. The GT actually has great bite and feel. The face milling is also nice and its actually a smaller all around wedge than the Bold.
  2. Thats what's eating at me, I can't decide. Too many choices!
  3. Hi M, I actually just emailed S-Yard to get me the numbers asap. When I get yours I will send it over. T
  4. My 50* Bold showed up today... being in Japan I have the benefit of next morning shipping. The 50* has the strongest loft of the Bold's meaning it shows the most topline and also has the most offset (as I note offset progress to less and less as the lofts increase). I think it still looks pretty good. Some offset for the 50* to nearly none in the 60*and the topline is not that thick considering all the weight is on top. Also as you can see from the pic, the head is not all that big if you compare it to the ball. Been chipping it around the backyard and has that endo feel, soft but with feedback, sets up well. Love the milling.
  5. What I meant was the consumers ie golfers who have purchased the 909 tout the iron as a huge improvement. Of course the manufacturer would say that too! We only have one set left 5-PW DG S200. All we could get and the last set after yours and Tae's.
  6. My S-Yard Bold Wedge arrived today so I thought I would snap some pics of the bag. Even though my new irons have not come yet. Temporarily in are my very old original Legacy Forged irons, one of the most balanced forged irons ever made. (I have owned 5 sets since they came out) I have a 56 Bold coming too but for now there is an S-Yard GT Type S in its place which is actually pretty good. Have not decided if I am keeping the Baldo yet and I noticed as well my Ryoma F5 was not in the bag here but that is my 5W. 7. Non conforming, they were long before the groove rules. Not super super compact but small probably similar in size to the 5003.
  8. Glad to hear it Steve... you are one of the lucky ones to get a set. Here in Japan they tout it as a huge improvement over the 905 and they pretty much sold out...
  9. Yours is probably next week since Hirose-san will not come till then and you want the tour van build. (^_^)
  10. Thanks for the feedback A. This is what I have been saying all along. In the images there is an illusion of them being big due to the way the center is cut out the top looks chunky. And I'm glad you noticed the 60* has pretty much a straight neck. Finish we shall see since its not plated but it may wear nicely. Now that our wedges have started shipping out I should have mine tomorrow... It's too bad S-Yard has been seen as an older man brand... I can see why since they promoted their lightweight series so much (mistake on their part), and this caused people to overlook many of their other models like the deep faced GT Type S driver and fairway wood. The Type S launches even lower than the T.388 and is meant for the low handicapper and strong player.
  11. We sold them here at TSG, they were very limited and very popular. The MB247 and CB247 both forged by Miura for ONOFF.
  12. Yes sir they are. The problem with them being all international orders, the paper work is more extensive and S-Yard is still new to shipping outside of Japan but I know they are trying their best to get all our orders out over the next few days.
  13. Ryoma actually has a warning on their site about counterfeit and stolen heads including the Maxima. Apparently some have even surfaced in places like Singapore so buyer beware, The Type D will launch first end of April but Ryoma is having production delays with the V and G. Those will come in May. I speak to Ryoma every week and they have seen unbelievable growth over the last year, to the point where they are actually having difficulty handling the demand. Because of this they even requested we wait on the heads as they want to make sure they can supply the domestic market first. This kind of sucks and we have pleaded with them on numerous occasions but their president still sees Japan as the focal point of their business for them. We just have to wait patiently till we can get our hands on them.
  14. I spoke to S-Yard just now and yours are being boxed as we speak. You will find out very soon!
  15. Keep in mind about the offset, I actually talked to Kobayashi-san about the progressive offset in the Bold. There is slight offset in the approach wedges progressing to a straight neck in the 58 and 60 Lob as you see in my pics that Chris posted. "The BOLD is of course thicker up top but its tear drop shape and darker finish do not give the impression that it is a thick wedge at address (though it clearly is when you look at the back face). The offset is progressive meaning that the lower lofts have a touch of offset progressing into much less offset in the higher lofts. Mr. Kobayashi explains that each loft/wedge has its specific intentions and offset is taken into consideration as Mr. Kobayshi breaks up his 5 lofts into 3 groups. The 50 and 52 which have offset are made for approach shots most likely with 3/4 to full swings. The slight offset helps square the face for better impact. The 56 and 58 are sand wedges which have less offset for control the less offset comes into play as well when the ball is played more forward in your stance for example in bunkers. Finally the 60 is the lob wedge with the least offset as it is meant for delicate control and touch shots. The less amount of offset allows you to direct the ball where you want it to go." I also talk about the shape for those who think the wedge looks big. Due to the design with more of the weight up top in the blade it was of course a challenge to hide a "chunky" look and they did pretty good I think considering. I've said this before about many clubs, and the Bold falls in the category of not necessarily a good looking club but one with a design meant to be functional. There are many beautiful clubs out there (beauty is in the eye of the beholder) that don't necessarily perform as well as they look, then there are ugly clubs who do what they are meant to do, and of course worst of all there are also ugly clubs that simply suck. While looks are very high on my list, I will choose performance and function over beauty, though I don't necessarily think these are terrible looking in anyway. A bit thicker (but that can't be helped due to the design) and too much stamping (a typical Japanese design mistake). Otherwise they have the design makings of an awesome performer and great feeling endo forged wedge. In the next few days we will all know for sure.
  16. Thanks R for quoting me... yes... I am always tempted by all the wonderful clubs here in Japan and honestly I could play any club if I wanted to. But my game would go down the tubes. I have no problems sticking to what works for me even if it is not the most beautiful or sexy because in the end we all want to have fun and get better at golf and playing a club beyond your level makes it considerably harder to do that. Tats made a good suggestion above, transition from the 702 to say the ONOFF Forged and work you handicap and skill down to a smaller CB then blade. (^_^)
  17. I personally liked the feel and sound of the 435. But as most say, its very subjective and goes for any club. Glad it is working out for you\!
  18. As a matter of a fact a lot of customers ask this and its because the Japanese consumer apparently doesn't demand a 54*. I think its great for every wedge to offer 2* increments in lofts for all their models but most Japanese golfers seem to do 52 + 58 or 50 + 56 or 50 + 56 + 60 as the most common makeups.
  19. If you play those shafts I think your driver swing is way more than 90mph and more like 105. M-46 would be fine if you play a RIP Phenom 80 Stiff in your 3 Wood.
  20. Ryoma V-Spec 9.5* with top of the line Crazy Black 80LS 6.9 Flex 45.00" D1 310g This is being sold for a customer. We are in possession of the driver. 21. We should know more towards the end of this week. Keeping my fingers crossed!
  22. It is very much a difference in markets. Brands of course do testing and get feedback from loyal customers, in this case especially loyal George Spirits customers and 90% LIKE the looks and design. These are boutique brands that target very specific customer not mainstream off the shelf like many big name brands. George has a huge hardcore following. He would not design it if it would not sell. If brands had 49 of of 50 say WTF to their designs they would all be out of business. I don't know of any Honma iron that does CNC machining like that. Whether people like the looks or not, and of course it would be impossible for everyone to have he same tastes, there is no denying manufacturing quality. Now how it performs... is still something to be seen! (^_^)
  23. Stew decided he had too many red putters so we went with the translucent blue on the Hiro 1999 and it looks friggin awesome! Here is the final head on its way back to Stew today!
