  1. All Japanese balls are of course USGA conforming and are used on the Japanese tour. I used both original and new version. The new V10 was better for distance than the original as they changed the dimples to wider web style dimples similar to the Brill. The Mizuno's are a pretty good ball but I found them to be as bit less durable than I would have liked. The 352s I liked a lot and as I have noted before, even though it is for swing speeds 105mph or less.. 7 our of 10 of Team Japan's long drivers use the 352s which must mean something.
  2. After many requests from customers to get Kamui's fairway wood in the pro shop, so we thought we would get a few heads in to check out. Yesterday I received a custom 3 and 5 wood from Kamui and they are indeed a simple and clean design with a very traditional shape and mid height or semi shallow face depending on how you look at it. The Kamui FW is hand made to spec just like the Kamui drivers that TSG carries. Each Kamui Fairway Wood is made from soft SUS630 for the body and a FORGED high maraging face. Maraging steel is stronger than SUS630 so can be made thinner providing soft feel and POP off the face at impact. The heads are considered mid to smaller sized heads with a pear shape. As always Kamui's are hand made made to exact specs. Keep in mind also that while I list adjustment guidelines here, it is NOT uncommon for Kamui to be able to adjust even more beyond these guidelines. 3W Loft 15* plus/minus 1* Lie is 59* plus/minus 1* (or more) Face Angle 2* closed to 1* open (but like the driver 2* is probably doable) Weight is 207g and can be increased up to 217g 5W 18* plus/minus 1* Lie is 60* plus/minus 1* (or more) Face Angle 2* closed to 1* open (but like the driver 2* is probably doable) Weight is 214g and can be increased up to 223g 7W 21* plus/minus 1* Lie is 61* plus/minus 1*(or more) Face Angle 2* closed to 1* open (but like the driver 2* is probably doable) Weight is 223g and and can be increased up to 232g Like the Kamui drivers the Kamui fairway wood can be purchased as head only or custom built with any of the best shafts Japan has to offer. The Kamui FW will be in the shop this weekend with a head only price of 299.00. If you need help with specs or need recommendations or a custom quote, as always feel free to contact me. Lots of pics on the blog! http://www.golftoimpress.com
  3. Kanetani Pro is reviewing both the D201 and V201 for GDO in those videos. I also posted a video on the blog a few months ago. Yamaha drivers always sound and feel great. Tour Model review: http://www.golftoimpress.com/2009/12/yamah...201-tour-model/ Yamaha official promo video: http://www.golftoimpress.com/2009/11/yamah...deo-of-the-day/ You can hear all the sounds here for all their clubs
  4. I was okay with the V10, a nice all around ball that did lots of things well but not one thing outstanding. I played a case and moved on. I prefer their X-01 Balls... even though they are not meant to be distance balls compared to the V10 they gave me better distance and spin around the greens. The TR Spin is a very good ball but its just been replaced by the new TR Spin S9 which I have yet to try. I will though. I still keep a case or two of Hi-Brid BB Soft around as they are very comparable to the V10 with all around performance albeit 2 piece so half the price.
  5. We all have a club that we seem to place above all others and feel like we can always rely on. For me in the past few months it has been my PRGR EGG Spoon. I love to hit it and try to used it as often as I can when playing sometimes even replacing my driver off the tee as I am more consistent with it. I have grown to like the sound and feel but most of all the performance makes it my go to club and current FAV. What club in your bag is giving you the most joy right now? How about the most pain? (for me its any driver right now as I am struggling with control... EGG Driver calling my name)
  6. Both Spoons are definitely made for distance. TMfreak that is a good point. I will definitely compare when I get the Yamaha.
  7. I had called the PRGR slightly larger than compact but next to the burner tp, the PRGR was actually shorter heel to toe but slightly taller at the toe. Offset on both 7 irons was nearly identical which is a small amount of offset as you can see in the pictures. Here is the PRGR offset which keep in mind was taken on a different day so is from a different distance and angle.
  8. The Yamaha looks awesome but remember the Yamaha is a 210cc head! Does it look that big B? Yamaha as a matter of a fact is well known for its FW's, always top quality and design and performance. I think I'm going to get one in to compare side by side with the PRGR Spoon which is by the way 165cc.
  9. I'll be doing a Burner TP review for the blog but seeing how everyone loves pics so much, I thought I would post them here first.
  10. Each bag is made of high grade PVC Enamel. Inners including rain hood are all velour lined. 9.5" opening and full tour size with 3 point harness. Top front pocket is insulated. Gold accents throughout. Comes with Driver, FW and Putter covers to match. Also comes with Putter Cover clip and FULL poly urethane travel bag cover. Each bag is individually numbered out of 100.
  11. Hi Randy, They will be released on Feb 7th. Should be in the pro shop in the next week or so. This is made for the better golfer and faster swinger. As you said it will provide a combination of feel and forgiveness.
  12. That bag is pricey, 1275.00 + 150.00 shipping as it is huge in size. Please remember people, a product does not have to be posted in the pro shop in order to be bought. We can get anything in the pro shop or not. Just contact us.
  13. D, how are your Burner TP's coming along? I finally have some here for picture taking which I will do tomorrow.
  14. Don't forget also off the shelf drivers are mostly mass produced meaning huge variances in quality control and spec variations. I've made several posts on the blog before on REAL loft testing of off the shelf drivers and some brands had 10.5* drivers that had real lofts of 14* and so on. If you ask for a 9.75* kamui that is what you will get and hand made attention.
  15. That is such a hard question! For me right now it would be a toss up between PRGR and ONOFF as you can see from my bag. Both make great clubs that are very user friendly and average golfer friendly.
  16. (^_^) That "does it matter" question was actually directed at pca168 but I figured it mattered for you since you were asking which is why I initially reply that those coming out this year will conform. Do you some wedges in mind? February will see a lot of conforming releases.
  17. Here is a Quadra review: http://forum.tourspecgolf.com/index.ph...st&p=157001 Keep in mind also that the amount of buyers for these shafts through TSG is very small as so many of these brands are unknown to most and very pricey, and then the ones who buy don't necessarily frequent the forum. I know we have sold 15+ Crazy shafts and at least 10 Quadras in the past year.
  18. With the Golf Fair only a month away and the usual launching point for most Japan brands this time of year I am sure we will see something new.
  19. Just a note, when I say most models are not conforming I mean for the rules that apply Jan 1st, 2010 in other words for professional play and US Open qualification. I think the problem is that most people do not understand how the groove rule affects them. For most recreational and amateur players it doesn't... yet. 1. "The rules apply to clubs manufactured after Jan. 1, 2010, the same year that the USGA will enforce the new regulations through a condition of competition for the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Senior Open and each of their qualifying events. All USGA amateur championships will apply the new regulations through the condition of competition, after Jan. 1, 2014." 2. "Clubs manufactured prior to Jan. 1, 2010 that conform to current regulations will continue to be considered conforming to the USGA Rules of Golf until at least 2024. This includes clubs purchased after that date from manufacturers' existing model ranges. (According to the Darrell Survey of consumer golf equipment only two percent of irons in use are older than 15 years.) So long as these clubs continue to be conforming they may be used for establishment and maintenance of a USGA Handicap Index." So almost every wedge in the pro shop now, even older models technically conform as long as you are not trying to qualify for the US Open or playing professionally.
  20. They are very different irons. The AF-701 is a mid sized cavity back. The EGG is a hybrid iron set. P, I think you need to drop me an email. (^_^)
  21. If they were the same driver. I don't think PRGR would be selling them as different models... (^_^) The GN502 is for the slicer who wants forgiveness and distance. The EGG looks completely different and is made for the player who needs help with consistency striking the sweet spot and keeping the ball straight in the fairway. It is not meant to be super long but accurate and stable. The GN502 is lightweight, the EGG is 20-25g heavier for more stability. They both sound better than the EMB. The GN502 might square to the ball better than the EMB especially if you have no trouble with the longer shaft. The EGG sounds unique as most say.
  22. Got the PRGR TR500 Forged demo in for testing. Quite a beauty. Posted on the blog: http://www.golftoimpress.com
  23. I doubt the PPM's are conforming since almost every JDM brand did not conform with 2009 releases. Does it matter for you though? Are you trying to qualify for the US Open? (^_^)
  24. I would not suggest the Kamui (KA MOO EE said all together...) unless you go for the 420cc as the 456 naturally launches high (though lower than some since its real loft and you can move the CG a bit). Go for a 9*. The V201 is my suggestion especially with a low launching shaft. The 703 is newer but it launches higher than the 901, 701 and 701R/701G, but paired with the right shaft it could also produce a lower trajectory.
  25. Posted my review of the new XXIO Iron on the blog: http://www.golftoimpress.com Lots of pics and a XXIO Promo Video. To sum it up, could be the best average golfer model of 2010... simply easy, long and straight...
