I know that I am definetly getting rid of my 690.cb's but now I can't decide on what is next. I have narrowed my choices down to the MP-27's, MP-32's, combo set of the mizunos, or Gauge CB's. What is your guys oppinions on the best set up? Right now I am about a 3 handicap and hit down on the ball pretty hard taking a large divot. Also, does anybody have a comparison pic of the MP-27 and MP-32? :smile2: :money:

Thanks,

DBR

hey don't forget to throw the I404's in the mix.

All your picks are great  Depends what you want forgiveness? thin top line? Feel?

I'd say wait on the Gauge CB's as GD will have an entire new line of irons for 2005.

If your about looks....the Hiro Matsumoto MI-02's are freagin stunning. Everytime I look at them they look better and better. If looking at a golf club can inspire confidence then there is no exception to the MI-02's. The verdict is still out on the playability...need to blueprint a set and find out.

I was also looking into MP-27's vs. GD CB's and ended up buying the GD CB's with no regrets!!! It was love at first sight!

I also have a set of 690 CB's and 690 dot CB's and in terms of feel and forgiveness, they don't even come near the GD's.

I have been struggling with a 12 handicap during the term of my 690's, and briefly moved on to MR-23 US blades for awhile, but once I got the GD's, I shot 3 continuous rounds of 80!!!

If you want to look at some of the forum threads under "Irons", such as "Brief Review MP-27" and "Gauge Design Forged Cavity Backs", it can give you some answers you might be looking for!

The 27's are a large cavity back with a little offset good for long irons, and the 32 is the cutmusle blade with reduced offset the 27 looks like a Ta7 a little ,but way better IMO. And it depends what you looking for forgiveness or feel or looks both a good choice. The Srixon I-404's have me liking them since I read about them I'm picking up a set. Good luck

Chris, any idea how the i404's play? What is their size in comparison the the GD's and Matsumoto irons?

Yes 404's are sweet, getting a load of play on the J-Tour they are bigger than the hiro's and not as player too. The offset is minimal but it does exist. much shorter heel to toe than the 302's with less offset would sum it all up.

1.5mm shorter heel to toe - hardly noticeable. How much for a set?

And I thought you had a semi critical eye :-D . 1.5mm is a big difference IMO especially to the eye. I suggest you put the 302's and 404's side by side to see the difference for yourself.
