xxio
I know there is a member here who plays PRGR. How are the PRGR "Speed" irons I think the ones I saw were 901s, not really sure though the ones I saw are not on the PRGR site anymore. I liked how they looked. Essentially like my X Blades but a little bigger. Feel, trajectory, and sole grind are what I would like feedback on. Also what is a good price on them? dav
i have PRGR 910 irons, im not sure if they are cast or forged but thes seem very soft and they are very forgiving + they look awesome. i got em for free so im not exactly sure on the price. xxio
I've noticed free clubs generally feel better than retail as well  . Those are nice looking and I have seen those as well in person. The ones I saw didn't have that slash-cavity thing in the middle. Just the normal muscle. I think it was a 2003 model. It was $800 practically new, except for a 1/8" rock ding on the 8 iron sole.
dav
the ones i have are actually hollow inside which makes them really forgiving. I dont think that little cavity does anything more there for looks id say. Have you tried their website?
dav
also its hard to gauge prices especially when they are in yen and where everything is overpriced insanely. Boosting post count while im at it.
alohano
I play 900 TR's. They are basically the forged model of the lot. 3-5 irons have a tungsten piece toward the toe, otherwise straight forged. The 900 TR-X have a 100g tungsten sole and are hollow altho they look very similar to the 900 TR's. I have seen the 900 Speed irons but they are not in the 2004 catalog. PRGR has an English page so you can read all about it. I am so happy with my irons, I can't even describe my satisfaction. Stock shafts too..M-43 steel. The 8 has a rock ding that is why. Also the came stock with rifle 5.5s. Was that a factory option?
alohano
I am really sorry but I don't know re. the forging. The Speed irons are much cheaper than the 900 TR models. Just checked Yahoo Auctions Japan and I'd presume they could be had for 50000 yen, 60000 tops. One is starting at 40000 with 4 days left. Again, I have only hit one set of PRGR irons, the make and model that I am using now. But is simply significantly better than any irons I've ever hit. I'm not a club ho but I hit everything before I bought my new XXIO's. The PRGR 900's are much better. I would guess that the rifles are NOT factory installed. The stock would be M-43, M-46 steel/graphite. But I am not sure about that! Good luck!
xxio
Thank you. I will try to see if I can ask to hit them before I buy them.
alohano
Lastly, it is the 900 TR's that the PRGR staffers are ALL using...Golf Classic mag from a couple of months ago. Jumbo uses the TR-X. That really hit home too when I was buying.
xxio
Alohano, I've been all over all the boards I cannot find pics of the irons I saw. I just need to get feedback before I pull the trigger. I've sold a few things the last month. I'm down to 3 iron sets and 4 fws. These are the holes I'm trying to plug. How is the sole grind on your PRGRs? My other candidates are the Srixon I302s and Cobra SS Forged because of the forgiving sole grinds. I need something different from all the diggers I have (they seem to fit me though).
alohano
XXIO, I am not really an expert club ho. Sorry! But I know precisely which irons you are referring to. If in Yahoo Auctions Japan, try searching under "prgr speed" or "prgr 900" to see them. If it's the 900 speed iron that you are interested in, I can't help you at all. I've never hit them and can't describe them. You will do wonderfully with the Srixon I-302's. I purchased a used set with DG S-300's and they are great. PRGR 900 TR's with the M-43 just suit my swing speed, tempo, etc better. The sole width is narrower with the PRGR and flatter. I guess that is what you mean by sole grind. Good luck!
