Posted October 29, 200420 yr comment_62372 I have a Titleist 983 Tour Issue, and I want to put a UST Accra SC 75 in it, it's an M4 flex, and I want it to play as stiff as possible without being too boardy. Any suggestions on how much to tip it?
November 2, 200420 yr comment_62827 You should get the Accra dealer to fit you properly with your swingspeed. M4 flex on Titleist head will play around x-flex (M5), the Accra SC models are very soft & responsive tip and I don't think these shafts can/could feel boardy. TeeItHi

It is similar to tipping the shaft 1 1/2". The Tour players tell us that the M4 fully inserted into a Titleist still "feels" a little softer than a M5 straight in, but the specs will end up being somewhat similar. If your trying to get "as stiff as possible" without going to a M5, the full insertion is the way to go, but I'd check with a clubfitter first, who knows your swing. With graphite there are so many variables that affect the "feel" it's always a good idea to try it first. But again, I agree with TeeitHi, Accra will never be accused of feeling "boardy" Good luck, GBR
November 3, 200420 yr comment_62939 umkc, i would tip the shaft any before installation and to make it play firmer - install it all the way in... you will have to sand off a little and that plus the bore depth will make the shaft play about a half flex higher... "even though this shaft may feel flippy-it holds up very well and plays very tight"
