hey guys i was wondering what the cpm on the shaft means? i was looking at a pulled 757 on ebay x flex with a cpm of 269....any idea what this means?

on the www.fujikuragolf.com website it says the x flex should have a cpm of 290. please fill mr full of you knowledge :whistle: snd let me know what this lesser cpm will do. thanks

I assume the clamping methods were different when measuring the cpm's on this shaft than from the manufacturer. I understand Fuji uses a longer clamp, which will make the freq higher than on a conventional clamp that your typical clubmaker would use. Most of us are more familiar with the conventional readings. I wish there was an industry standard when it came to this.

The CPM of a shaft can also be affected if it measured as an assembeled club, or if it was measured with a tip weight.

Am I the only one that thinks something doesn't make sense here? An X Flex Fuji 757 with a cpm of 269??? Shouldn't it be higher frequency than that? 269 is more in the regular/stuff flex range. If it's truly an X flex 757, it should play VERY stiff. Please correct me if I'm off base here.

Most X-flex shafts tipped 1/2-1" in a 510DF will only frequency at 265-270 cpms. I don't think the shaft you are referring to is out of the ordinary at all. It was probably installed untipped or tipped a very small amount. Played a 771TA X-Flex untipped in a 510DF and it was 269 CPMs. Fuji 569X-flex in same head tipped 1" was 263 CPMs. It depends on the makeup and characteristics of the shaft.

First of all, I thing if you are going to talk cpm's, then you should talk of one specific shaft, with one specific length clamp, and one specific tipped or untipped length and one overall playing length, with one swing weight. With all of that being said, now you can start talking of what cpm's this shaft plays to or what cpm's this shaft raw will frequencie at.

For a point of reference, we have a 757 Stiff, tipped 1 inch, in a 510DF, playing to 44.5 inches @ D-3, with a frequencie in a 5 inch clamp, to 272 cpm's. Hope this helps. :cool:

That's true, increase the swingweight of the head and the shaft starts cycling at a lower frequency which means it plays whippier.

I alos think these tip stiff shafts or constant taper tip ones don't change frequency as much as you'd think when tipping them.

Depends on what your cutting, you'd be better getting it measured.. it's not an exact science.

290cpm is probably raw frequency, uncut 46".

A quote direct from the Fujikura Factory Rep on CPM:

We really aren't comparable to anyone in the industry. We use a Fujikura Frequency machine with a 7.25 inch butt clamp and a 201 gram head weight. Most other companies use a 5 inch butt clamp and ours will test about 12-13 cycles higher because of this fact.
