cleveland tour fairway woods

There are a few different versions, but the common denominator is no alignment aid on top and black scoring lines as opposed to the white on retail. There is a 1 dot version and a 2 dot version. The dots are next to the "Launcher" on the sole. These typically will not have a loft designation on the sole. There is also a 13* version I have seen that does not have any dots and does have the loft designation on it. It does have the black scoring lines and no alignment aid though. The 1 dot and 2 dots may also have the typical Cleveland laser etched specs down on the heel area near the hosel. It should read something like this 0.595.135 or something along those lines, which is face angle, lie angle and loft.

Well, I've had 4 tour Launchers, 15* with no dot that a buddy of Joe Kwok has right now, 2 dot Launcher that has no loft on the sole, currently own two 1 dot 13* Launchers (don't ask, NOT for sale). They do have deeper face and higher COG than retail Launcher. I do have retail 15* Launcher with NV75X tipped and those tour Launchers goes lower with hotter ballflight. All 4 of Launchers that I had, didn't have any serial number on the hosel, I think Cleveland discontinued doing laser etching on the hosels few years ago.

Now, I'm still trying to figure out what in the heck those 1 dot or 2 dot designation means. I did ask a Cleveland rep what it means, he said 1 dot means lighter head and 2 dot means heavier head but I doubt if that it true because my 1 dot and 2 dot weighs almost the same, within 1-2 grams of each other.

Bill, I've currently got a 1 dot that does have the laser etching on it stating a loft of 13.5* square face angle and I forget what for a lie angle. Now that I think about it, it's the only one I've seen with the specs on it. Maybe it was one of the earlier protos. I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that 1 dot was 13* while 2 dots were 15*. Definitely a slightly deeper face and lower ball flight on the tour models.

There is a launcher on e-bay that supposedly is tour. white scoring lines and an alignment aid. He claims its brand spanking new.

I'd stay away from it. I won't buy anything if I'm not sure of what the seller claims.

What golfclubjunkie has, is probably a tour issue club although I do not know enough on how to identify titanium tour Launchers. We always can learn something new, don't we? ;)

That is what I thought until someone told me that 2 dot Launcher has 13* of loft. When I sold it to a Cleveland tour van tech, he confirmed that.

Yours is an early tour Launcher and probably easier to identify than other tour Launchers.

Sorry for my post padding!

Here are the pictures of Launcher FW's.

Notice how close those top & bottom white scorelines are to the top crown and bottom of the soles as compared to tour black scorelines.

Notice 1 dot on the sole below the "Cleveland" and to left of "Launcher" of the sole.

Was too bright outside so took some poor indoor pics of the crown, retail has the logo while tours doesn't.

Thats exactly why I started this thread. I'm in the market and want to know as much as I can about them.

I have a friend on the Cleveland staff. I've seen most of his tour issued equipment from the van over the years. I agree wih eveything that's been said so far, and the identifying features of Cleveland tour issue equipment seems to vary. They seem to change them as they evolve from the prototype versions to the production versions. I will add that I have two tour issue fairway woods in my bag right now that look exactly like retail. They may have a deeper face, but I'll have to measure to make sure as by looking at them you can't distinguish them from off the rack. You may ask then how do I know they are genuine? I all but took them out of his bag myself. I know that only confuses the matter, I guess it comes down to truly knowing the origin of the club.

I know guy that had a couple of the Cleveland FW TOUR and he picked them directly from the tour van at a PGA event, so no doubt that they were 100% tour issue. Catch is, they looked just like retail with none of the aforementioned dots and they had the alignment "bug" on top as well. There isn't really a cut and dry answer on these unless you have a legit source.
