I was watching a show on the Discovery channel about a Dolphin that had it's tailfin torn off, which it needs to swim, jump and manuever in the water. When the people at the zoo decided to pursue the idea of a prothsetic tailfin, they approached Japanese scientists at Bridgestone, who designed multiple prototypes before finally getting one that worked perfectly for the Dolphin. When I see stories like this, it doesn't surprise me that Bridgestone Japan makes some of the most technologically advanced golf equipment in the world. Let's just say that employees of Macgregor aren't going to be designing robotic animal prothsetics anytime soon. Just thought I'd pass this on.

that's nice but your comparing apples to oranges - bridgestone is a global corporate giant while macgregor is quite simply just a golf company.

A corporation like Bridgestone has incredible resources which results in the golf division having the latest in technology and combined with forward thinking designers results in incredible products. I chose Macgregor randonmly, as an example to show that a company that is just simply a golf company is limited in their scope and capabilties. I tip my hat to this global corporate giant.

Putting everything aside, I think that is the awesome most thing I have seen, something to help out a great Mammal like the dolphin. What a great design and it works great. Hats off to Bridgestone there the real deal.

CBS also had a blurb on their nightly news last week, and it was quite impressive. That dolphin was certainly jumping with joy after finally getting the right fit - took them several tries over there at the Bridgestone lab. Now where can I pick up a dozen of those new Bridgestone prototype golf balls that will give the ProV1x a run for its money in 2005...haha?! :bridgestone:
