radd
Ive played rifle shafts for about 3 year and have really liked them. However recently i have found out that these shafts may be causing problems in my swing. Rifles are heavy shafts plus i get my clubs extended so over all weight is huge. Although dynamic gold weighs the same is oddly feels much lighter. I believe this is down to the balance point. So i would say that dynamic golds arew the shaft that promotes distance and consistency.
freddiec
I thought Rifles are lighter than Dynamic Golf shafts. Double check that, i think your mistaken. :o
radd
sorry my shafts are the tour flighted. There may be a few grams either way but they are roughly the same. But many good players at my university have all said the same rifles feel heavier than dynamic golds.
freddiec
Yeah, the heads may feel a little heavier. Usually the rifle's make the swingweight a little heavier, usually a half a point or so. If those irons are D2's then you should be ok, but if they are D3 or heavier, thats not desireable in my opinion. Wish you well
pbdglf
That's just goofy. Unless you are some top-echelon tour player you can't tell the diff between D2 and D3. It is akin to taping a dollar bill to the head.
freddiec
going from a D2 to a D3 on an iron is more weitght than a dollar bill, trust me, it would be like putting a 1 and half inch of lead tape on the back and the difference can be felt and it makes the club feel a lot different imo. FAQ
what are the pros and cons of theses shafts in irons. which is better for control and accuracy? and whats the main difference, Two things... You might want to reduce the size of your Avatar :-D and here's another thing... A Clubmakers report on the Differences between Rifle and Dynamic Gold Rifles are frequency (flex) sorted and Dynamic Gold's are weight sorted (Project X shafts are frequency sorted and a constant weight throughout the set. The PW is a shorter shaft but it weighs the same as the 3 iron shaft). His personal experience with all 3 (and some disagree) is that Rifles hit the ball higher than DG's. The rifle is a better shock absorber (not always a good thing), the sensicore is a plastic straw with a thin strip of foam wrapped around it like a barber shop pole. The sensicore does affect the shafts consistency. When you buy a set of rifle shafts you get a much more consistent set in both flex and weight. When you buy 8-10 DG's, you'll get a range of flexes. He bought 14 DG-S300 shafts a couple of weeks back just to get 8 that were the exact same flex. If you've got a good clubbuilder in your area, you can get the desired results with either shaft. It just takes a little more work with True Temper.
