BJL
For over 2 years, I have bought/sold/traded golf clubs without any problems. Lately, however, I have had a few bad experiences for the first time. Items in condition far worse than represented, late payment, late shipment, late responses, etc., have all been experienced by this frustrated member. It seems worse on that other board. Has anyone else experienced a decline in fair trading practices? Have we gone from a trustworthy clique of golf club junkies to the mainstream where caveat emptor is a way of life? :-D
JohnnyTN
I agree with you.... been somewhat dissappointed lately with some big ticket items... Stuff I probably would have bought anyways...but it's nice to know the truth..I hate surprises.. Irons with rock dings ( small but there) Drivers with covered up skymarks... on and on... PxExG
thats pretty sad to hear, i always have had good dealing with TSG members but I could see what you are saying. We are not as "cliquey" anymore & there are a lot more internet golfers out there. Hopefully it is just a one off & the trading system may well help.... +TourSpecGolfer
You guys think the problem is bigger with the TSG B/S/T versus the BSG B/S/T? Where do this faulty sellers hang out at? What could we do to stop them?
zip7111
I think its pretty stupid that members are using the rating system for retaliation(sp.?) already... Steve :smile2:

ohmslaw
I had (having) a couple of problems with a couple of recent purchases, but I don't blame the sellers, it is 99% a USPS/Royal Mail issue, the sellers have responded very promptly to my update requests, thats all one can ask for, its a matter of trust, and regardless of whether or not you're an established member with loads of posts or a newbie, I think that the majority of people on these forums are good honest people, I have yet to deal with someone that I've said "Never again" hopefully it will remain that way. rubycoho
I haven't had any problems, maybe I've just been lucky. Thank you to the sellers with honesty and integrity.

tickyboy
I'm currently having two shipping issues, with clubs getting across the border, but I think that's more canadapost/usps than the seller's fault. Neither were from this board, from golfshack and GEA, but both sellers have been helpful. All I can do is wait though.

fairwayfinder
I'm always one to play used equipment. If its been in the bag and its forged its going to be dinged up. Its hard to rate a set of forged irons, if I ride in a cart and the driver is not me, the clubs are getting beat to crap back there. I always put a condition but note: These are played clubs, or not for collectors. Or I put Mint, If MINT. Its getting harder as you buy more and more. If you get a club in that is in 8+ condition and you think it looks great, then you get a driver in that was represented at 9+ but has a slight rub mark on the bottom, and you compair that to the 8+ you get upset! I recently paid big bucks on a set of Tour CB irons, 100% authentic great set. They came in with bend marks on them, considerable ones. Nice the price was fair market, but if I went to sell them I wouldn't feel right with stating 8.5 or better even though that is the ONLY thing wrong with them. I like the irons a ton and if I had them bent to my specs around my house they would probably be bent worse. Anyway the problem I really have is that both previous owners told me they saw no marks. Mini Rant!

Neither were from this board, from golfshack and GEA, but both sellers have been helpful.  All I can do is wait though. I'm in the same boat with you right now. Made a trade with a really good member of the board. Everything went smoothly, he went and sent the irons and I went and sent the irons. He sent it EMS from down under, and I sent it Purolator (Canada's Internation Shipping Company), and we exchanged tracking numbers. Mine came in recently, just as expected, in mint condition. I had to pay the usual duties, but other than that I was happy. But now the other member is still waiting for his set, and he just told me there was a problem in documentation and it is stuck in Ohio? WTF is it doing in Ohio? And why didn't they tell me there would be a problem with the paper work when I went to the depot? Hopefully there will be a great outcome from this. Will, I will for sure help you out. Lwolf
I have not had any problems lately but there were a couple of packages from the US which arrived about a week late. I believe the problem is with Canada Customs here which causes the hold ups. USPS Global Express Mail service from the US to Canada is my preferred shipping method when buying items from US sellers, only once has it taken longer than the usual 3-5 days to arrive. Canada Customs seems to process the "express" shipments quicker, as they should but sometimes a package gets delayed, nothing to do but wait. The best methods are UPS Worldwide Express or Fedex Overnight service but they are costly as we all know, but UPS and Fedex clear their own items which speeds up the entry process into Canada. scratchgolfnut69
The only problems i've had was with sellers not stating all the facts. Trying to hide imperferctions with pictures that don't show damage by the camera angle is not good. I believe in full disclosure so there are no surprises  If you're going to mislead someone you mine as well stick to EBAY
joey3108
Seeing and working on clubs every day and noticing some condition problem of my own club and customers club when i worked on them. 1. Sharpies touch up on a small paint chip. 2. Refinished club that is not disclosed and the customer didn't even know. 3. Rattle inside the head that is not noticable, especially for some one who bought head only. 4. Customers who bought club and ship them straight to me and i have to deal w/ it to explain the condotion when they arrived. 5. Bad condition shaft to install that the customers didn't notice when they shiped it out to me. 6. Hair line crack face. 7. Fake grind. 8. Modified hosel to a paralel which no body knows untill I pulled shaft out. 9. E.T.C. up to the extreme and On and on that i have to deal with every day. Not to often but once in a while customers try to blame it on me. :surprize:  That is rediculous especially for a used club. What make me mad the most is if some club choper worked on the club and F***ed it up and end up on my bench that i found the problem after i pull the shaft out. A lot of times that i have to fix them but i can't charge them. IMHGO, We need a "Trading and Grading Guide" on the top of BST folder w/ pictures if we have to. Seller have to study it before they make a post on what condition of their stick suppose to be. I'm almost sure, "TGG" will reduce the problem significantly Just my 2 cents! Joe  ps: My tip of buying: Ask a lot of questions if you are buying from a non reputable members. Pictures says a thousand words even often not guaranty exactly how it look. The worst "HO" is ussually knows best but still not immune.
