Maverick
Is there a difference? I was under the impression that Todd Schumacher was the sole owner of the Bettinardi line? What is the higher quality putter?
+TourSpecGolfer
Is there a difference? I was under the impression that Todd Schumacher was the sole owner of the Bettinardi line? What is the higher quality putter? No Sir, Todd don't own Bettinardi. Bob Bettinardi does. and BB makes putters for hogan under contract I think. Todd is the man for Tour Betts and other rare bett gear. He doesn't carry the Japanese line. They are all the same. The designs are different and the Japan ones usually have a fancy head cover, grip, finish, stampings but the quality with bett's are extremely consistent. You will often see MC on the Japan ones. That means Maru's Crew. Shigeki Maruyama's father and family owns the distribution rights to Bettinardi in Japan. I'm not sure but I think they can design their own stuff also. lightrider
I would wait for ebay, or post a WTB ad, to get a Betti DASS unless you want something very specific. The Japanese Bettis do look better, they have to be different designers as they do look much better than the US designs. The classic Bettinardis were very similar to the Japanese designs. Also, the heavier heads will be for Japan.
Godfather1
Chris how much does that putter weigh? The only thing that keeps me from anser putters is the light weight. How does bett. compare to gauge?
+TourSpecGolfer
Chris how much does that putter weigh? The only thing that keeps  me from anser putters is the light weight. How does bett. compare to gauge? They are both top quality for sure. Material I give the edge to gauge but i would rank them the same for they are both made extremely well. This is the 2005 line Japan betts. The Gauge Japan new putters will not be out till late feb. How heavy do you like? Japan Betts might come in 370g's like last seasons but I'm not 100% sure. with gauge you can custom order ingots. I saw Dennis Chand pick up a Tour Zero with 4 large ingots and a 150g shaft . The head weight was about 380g's. I have also learned that counter balance and grip size makes the head feel light also the way you putt. last year i wanted 370+g heads now I like 340g because with the proper stroke I notice they feel about the same.
