Hooker Help

I have gone from a high ball hitter that missed it to the right to drawing the ball and missing it to the left. It works great with my driver but is frustrating on my iron shots. My swing is the best it has ever been but I would like to control my irons better. Any help would be great.

You are releasing your club head to early, work on timing.

Try and delay your club head a little more or move your ball back 1/2 inch.

Not a bad shot to have though! That is what Todd hamilton plays, look what it did for him.

Dude went out and won the British!

It can be so many things, New grips and being smaller diameter, To tight with the right hand on the grip ( Being RH. ). The grip being to much in the left hands palm instead of the finger tips. Basically just to strong of a grip with either hand. Alignment might be off and coming from the inside to far. Starting the irons back to the inside to fast. Could be your posture ? Should I keep going ? I would take a 7 iron and tee the ball up and open the face a little and open your stance a little and work on some fades and gradually work back to sqaure and go the other way close face and close stance and start hitting some draws go around like in a circle until you get your shot shape back to normal. Thats what I do to get back on track. With me its always seems to be my POSTURE or ALIGNMENT ! But thats what goes first with Age !! :wah:

True, it could be a dozen reasons why you hook, but like it has been said above, go back to 'G.A.P'. Check your Grip, is it too strong? Alignment, is it closed? Posture, is your left shoulder wide open? Etc etc.

Like Eagles above said, I moved the ball back 1 inch. It felt like two feet yet my pro/friends tell me the ball is now in perfect position.

Hooks..."You can talk to a slice, but the hook won't listen" Lee Trevino.

"If I see someone who hooks the ball, good, I know it can be fixed easily, if I see someone with a slice, there is much work to do" Harvey Penick.

I spent $700.00 last season on a Canon MiniDV recorder. Plays back in super slow, super clear motion. I learned a lot about my own swing. Is it a straight-pull hook or a draw that hooks too much? Good question.
