dennisdaniels99
I am a golf professional from Ky, and I currently play a Taylor Made R7 tp 9.5* w/ mitsubishi lt70 stiff shaft. I am looking for a Tourstage driver that is similar in size, shape and performance. How do the Tourstage drivers stack up against the Taylor made products? Are the MR23 drivers worth the money?? Any help is appreciated.
JohnnyTN
The best TS driver IMHFO is the J340...but it's no where near the size of the R7 which is 400cc -vs- 340cc for the J340. You might want to try the new TS's... Xdrive2 405.
noraagolfs
i started playing a X-Drive 390 with a GD Blue Tour shaft and it is the best driver I have ever hit. Mine is 9* and with this shaft it has a PERFECT trajectory for me, and its LLOONNGG. I have played ALL of Taylor Mades TOUR drivers, Cleveland TOUR 400, NAK 380, and Titleist 983's and IMO this is the head and shaft for me, RIGHT NOW. GOOD LUCK, AARON
Godfather1
I haven't tried any other tourstage drivers, but the x-drive maru type 365 is amazing. It's not like the usual maru spec which from what I hear is difficult to hit. This one is actually preety easy. Just make sure you got the right shaft, and your good to go. +TourSpecGolfer
The ones that worked best for me: 1. X-Drive 390 High C.O.R 2. X-Drive 365 3. J340 4. Izawa proto 5. X-Drive 350 High C.O.R notice I choose high C.O.R, it is because the face angle is .5 closed to square instead of open like the pro specs. The new X-Drive 2005 looks like a sure fire winner, square face available in conforming models, They did away with the foamed heads!!!! :surprize: and replaced them with turbo rubber, its a blue rubber that stabilizes the head causing more rebound they say  This rubber is under the grip as well as in the head, the Titanium used is supposed to be some super duper feeling stuff and they have something they do to the back of the face that makes it hotter. Cool thing is I will have them by the end of this week if anyone is interested. those of you who were smart and pre ordered will get it early. Godfather1
The x-drive type 365 is a variation of the maru spec, but conforming.
vmhuang
Playing a MR23 US Drive Maru Spec right now.. and it is a BITCH!!! But when you pure one... its really rewarding. Its just hard to hit it perfectly. Right now, I'm leaving everything high right so that's not quite the driver for me right now. I'm about to give up on it. Going to try a retail BIG (read 460cc) domestic driver just to be able to play a respectable game right now. I've hit the Xdrive 350 and I can't stand the closed face look which is what I like about Maru Spec which has an 1 deg open face but looks square. vmhuang
Iirc, the 350 had a 0.5 deg closed face from the catalog I saw. It definitely looked like a close face.

vmhuang
No.. u were right. After thinking about it, I remember now how disappointed I was when I saw the head looked close even though the specs said square. That was why I went with the Maru which was listed as 1 deg open but looked square to my eyes.
1over
I am a golf professional from Ky, and I currently play a Taylor Made R7 tp 9.5* w/ mitsubishi lt70 stiff shaft. I am looking for a Tourstage driver that is similar in size, shape and performance. How do the Tourstage drivers stack up against the Taylor made products? Are the MR23 drivers worth the money?? Any help is appreciated. Bridgestone will be launching two Titanium forged drivers, along with irons and wedges, at the PGA Show this month. Drivers will be J33P, 375 cc pear shaped. Lower launch with higher spin. The J33R, 420 cc deeper face with higher launch, flatter trajectory with less spin. Made along side all the Japan TourStage drivers from Bridgestone. Stuart Appleby picked up additional length with the combination of the Tour B330 ball along with the J33R driver. Told the Tour reps at TaylorMade to stop trying to get him to switch back. Stuart was not under contract to play the driver, but chose to based on performance.
stevopagolf
Would say RX-1....regretting selling mine. J340 second. Mine needs a different shaft.
dadriver
Would say RX-1....regretting selling mine.J340 second. Mine needs a different shaft. You're talking about the Type 315, right? I'd agree that it is longer than the J but the 340 has a better shape and feel--so I'd give the nod to the J340. The RX-1 Type315 is definitely in the top 3 of the Tourstage drivers I've played. I'd go somethig like this: J340 RX-1 Type 315 XD 325 Pro Spec XD 390 Pro Spec Maru Spec (if this club was more forgiving then it would be higher rated) Old school - X500
carrera
I hit Track's (GEA) 350 X Drive Prospec 8* and it felt great. Had a GD CP02 shaft. Contrary to the above, this head appeared a shade closed to my eye. The 390 X-drive on the other hand was probably the worst driver I have ever hit. Nothing ever felt like it was hit on the sweetspot...definitely different than the 350 that would give a good "crack" on impact. Low trajectory as well. I am looking forward to some comments about the new J33R.
