TourGolfJeff
Rice, Assuming it is not a swing issue, impacts toward the heel indicate a club needs to be made flatter in most cases. Jeff
theswingfixer
It's NOt the equipment It's Not the equipment Please don't advise a player to bend the club upright or flat !!!
DoubleAA
There are a number of things that could cause this! Could it be you are standing to much over the ball (Too close)! Could it be you are bent over too much by hunching! Could be that you are pulling your head out of the swing! Could be you are coming too far from the inside! Could be your takeaway is not straight back causing you to reroute on the downswing and resulting in blocked contact. Were you fitted for the clubs? If so, again it is not the equipment! How has you last range session gone?
rice12oketman
went today and it was better than before, i was still hitting it on the heel but makeing better contact than some days. when i did hit it alright, i'd push it or push fade or a draw, sometimes a push draw and of course some shanks but pretty alright
braveheart
Hello out there. This is my first post. I too have the same problem. I hit most of my shots close to the heel and I have an inside path with a steep swing. I have not been fitted for new clubs yet, but that is something Im going to do in the next month or so (before spring). I have been hitting at an indoor range with a modulator giving me feedback. I get the feeling my clubs are too short as they are old Ben Hogan Radials and Im 6 feet tall. I have had a few lessons that have improved my shotmaking but its time to upgrade as Im now hooked and have been advised that is the way to go. Take care and thanks for the opportunity to share and learn in this forum.

Are you feeling a "Reverse Pivot" It could be so many things, this helped me when I first started. When at address, place 2 balls on the ground. One at the correct ball position and another 2 inches farther away from you. Place your club at the farthest ball, swing and make contact with the ball that is the closest. Try this few times with several different clubs. OR. Hand EYE coordination is a funny thing, the way golf glubs are made, we should all be hitting off the hosel. When you are at address, make it your FIRST priority to get your spine angle in check. Second, test your take away, are you on plane? Third, are you too close/far from the ball. Fourth, how is your weight transfer? Are you stationary, moving backward/forward? Where do you end? You want to end on your left foot! A little sway is not bad, it will actaully helps get you in motion. While looking at your ball at address. Focus on a alternate point on the ground. this could be a blade of grass 1/2 inch in front of your ball. Swing at that point. Your hands will follow the eyes, that is the way we are built. You may want to stare at a point that is at a diagonal location from the ball. 1/2 toward the target and 1/4 inch down. It may seem fruitless but if you have played baseball or football for that fact, you never really are able to see the ball hit the bat, you swing at the last point you saw the ball, football, when you throw the ball, you cannot be effective throwing the ball if you watch it leave your hand, you try and percieve the point of contact/delivery. It is odd how your peripheral vision works but it does. Let me know if this makes a difference, I found that my swing gained better consistency by trying to employ little things like this. It was all a matter of getting comfortable standing over a ball either in play or practice.
matt411
make sure you are clearing your hips, otherwise your torso will cause your hands to be too far away from your body at impact causing the shanks (i dont even like typing that word)
SwingMan
how can i prevent this from happeneing?? the clubhead comes from the inside alot, does this make me hit it off the heel? Assuming your spine angle stays put during the swing, and taking other's advice here, make sure you get some distance between you and the ball and if that's OK, may sure you aren't throwing your arms away from your body before impact. Go to a video machine -- or do what I do - take a lesson.
