January 9, 200520 yr comment_71868 Wow... Those look like great fakes.. In the past I've seen a few fakes, all of them stood out. Wasn't to hard to tell the difference between them and the real ones. Whats the best way to tell the difference with these?
January 9, 200520 yr comment_71870 Some of those are pretty bad. They are guys in my club who are proud they got their OEM clubs at @ $300 for a complete set supposedly from "the same foundry". I can't wait til their shafts snap in half while putting it back in the bag or they keep hitting their 7-9-6 irons the same distance. I have seen heads not counterfeit but "blanks/unfinished heads " smuggled out of the factory then painted somewhere else. They are quality heads but if you think about it they are stolen property.

Check the shaft, the OEM usually don't make a shaft exactly like the fake, If the price is too crazy like 250 - 500 for a full set brand new with a bag its prob a fake. A fake set will have a few clubs that look totally weird, just examine every club in the set, especially the putter. These are S.E Asia fakes, the Japan fakes you would never know, Its just sad that way. If the seller is in the Navy and just got back with the load of dirt cheap brand new clubs, I doubt they are real. Sailors bring in several thousand sets a year at least.
January 9, 200520 yr comment_71914 Wow.. some of them are very close to original. The Titleist stuff esp look very real. The R580 is very close too. Scary.
January 9, 200520 yr comment_71916 Those Cally Fusion FW's actually look pretty good! :-D Maybe Cally and Co. should take a trip to Asia  God Bless Jer
January 9, 200520 yr comment_71932 REAL FAKE The fakes aren't too good a copy but will fool some people. Man, I hate Ebay sellers who do this!!!
January 9, 200520 yr comment_71967 Those RAC irons and the fusion woods look pretty good...all others, if you look at clubs a lot would look really fake.
January 10, 200520 yr comment_72030 I've seen some of the fakes, mostly callaways... and boy they look real~ but like what xxio said, I've also seen heads flying off, shaft broke in two... etc etc. :D
January 11, 200520 yr comment_72153 Uh-oh... that 580XD looks eerily similar to mine, which I got (LH, 9.5* with Stiff stock shaft) for $168.50 incl. shipping. I don't *think* it's a fake, as I got it from a seller in New York, but is there a way to tell? I've had it since October, and it hasn't come close to breaking, let alone a few scratches... and this is with me catching tee shots extremely fat sometimes, and even getting so P.O.'d I threw the thing. It still hits like a brand new club when I make good contact... is it a fake? :smile2: On the other hand, I have no standard for comparison against any other driver, so perhaps if it indeed is an impeccably-produced fake, I won't be able to tell.

Best way to tell if it's a fake would be to post some pics of the club, someone here would be able to give you an answer. If you can't post any pics, then send them to me at [email protected] and I'll post them ASAP.

Take yours put it up to the monitor and LOOK :surprize: If there are even the slightest differences and its the exact same model you got yourself a fugazzi. Try calling taylormade if its fake and offer to send it to them in exhange for the real thing

Mine looks extremely authentic, it would be hard for me to believe I have a fake, but I'll see what I can do in terms of pictures. EDIT: Here: The driver.
January 11, 200520 yr comment_72173 Your driver looks very real to me. The fake looks almost more cartoony, hard to explain. The face looks super deep, must be because it's backwards  , J/K. Hit it well  .
January 11, 200520 yr comment_72175 I compared your pics with the pics from the Taylor Made web site and I think you are OK! The giveaway for me was the cavity in the back of the driver for the "tuned weight port". If you look at the fake, it is not even close. Your driver looks identical to the one on the TM web site. Rest easy, but be careful in the future. Sixx
January 11, 200520 yr comment_72210 XDs are going for about that on ebay so chances are it is real. I have noticed the most telling difference is usually the shaft. The paint and font is usually strange on the shaft. There is a fake Fusion in our proshop. It doesn't have the titanium part on the front end of the crown. Carbon composite looks like a coat of paint was added on top of it and the shaft says Segular Flex. I guess that's in between a stiff and a regular :smile2: and it's harder than the 757 X tipped 1 inch I have in my Japanese Rescue.
January 11, 200520 yr comment_72221 Can you really exchange fake TMs with the real ones? Will TM people go that far to be at your service?
January 11, 200520 yr comment_72286 the Titleist K and F's look real to me from the photos! Hit Ebay with a couple of thousand and make a mint! :smile1:
January 11, 200520 yr comment_72311 They did a piece about this on 20/20 or one of those show a while back. The easist way they said to spot a fake is to use a magnet. Tit. shouldn't attract the magnet, while steel like most of the fakes use will.
January 12, 200520 yr comment_72321 Thanks a lot guys! I thought there was something odd with that weird indented glare in the fake photo, but i also thought they looked similar. Again, thanks for that clarification!
