MikeyO
Hi, just got hold of what i think is a 580xd tour. It's got the flat weight cartridge at the back and has the 'tour' grooves on the face. Have just been to the range and hit it and i love the heavier head and solid feel off the face. However i've got a few questions as i'm unsure about the markings on the club itself. First off the toe of the club has 'titanium' inscribed as oppose to any TP logo? Is there any significance to this? A buddy of mine worked on the TM tour van last year and his 580 has the TP logo on it? I've read a few references to DF heads although i've no idea what this means, any clarification would be great. Secondly the club has a rather bizarre serial number - PACKMAN. I've obviously read the posts saying that tour serial numbers start with TXXXX so was wondering if anyone could explain this? Thanks, Mikey
jungleheadjim
hey man. the packman thing sounds fishy. but the 540xd tour and 580xd tour should look the same other than the 580. http://www.tourspecgolf.com/modules.php?na...ewtopic&t=14215 thats my 540xd tour. compare it for markings. i changed the xd and the r to silver cause it looks better so dont use that for comparison. but it should have these things to generally be legit 1. underlined half degree mark i.e. 9.5 2. a txxxxxx serial number 3. tp on the toe 4. completely different sole than the retail xd series 5. .335 hosel rather than .350 hope this helps man
997777
I've got a R580XD TP and it pretty much resembles JungleheadJim's R540XD TP as far as serial numbering and TP logo. Can you supply pictures?
MikeyO
Will supply pictures in the next day or so. Looks very similar to the pics on the link. Has the line under the .5, the same smooth cartridge, the TP face markings and certainly sits square compaired to my retail 580xd. Only diffs are that it's got 'Titanium' on the toe (as oppose to TP) and that the serial number is 'PACKMAN'. Will check on the tip size as not sure on that count. Certainly a lot heavier than my retail club. Is it normal to have non standard serial numbers? I've seen elsewhere on the site a pic of a taylormade tour 3 wood that had a serial number 'USA'? It was in the tour bags thread.
997777
Don't know about the serial number, but I think some of the tour heads did have TITANIUM printed on the toe rather than the TP logo.
pickle
Some did also have the "Titanium" rather than the crest. As for the Pacman, no idea. I've had several, both with the titanium and the crest-no difference.
MikeyO
Ok, i've done some pics. However am not sure how i go about posting them. Have checked out the FAQ's but doesn't make much sense. If anybody can help then i'll get them asap. Thanks...

MikeyO
Apologies for the delay in getting these up - hope it works! Anyway here they are. Any help in identifying what any of this means would be great. It's got a fuji speeder, black graphics in it. Have had the club now for a month or so and am loving it. Much heavier head than my retail xd and completely different feel - not at all hollow. Have tried to determine what the tip size is but am not sure if this should be obvious or not? face Sole Serial number Toe Headcover
DTown3011
It's for sure a TOUR clubhead, but that serial number is crazy! Maybe it was made for a member of the Green Bay Packers?
997777
Looks good to me.
scratchgolfnut69
Definately a tour head
xtremecruiser
Does it have the rare made in Chian sticker on the bottom ? Sorry for the crack, if you do a search, there are some TM rejects that get sold from china that could be copies or just junk that was to be destroyed by TM that made it to some sellers  You have to be really careful when you get some TM stuff. thsgolfer61
could be a custom ordered one or something sent back to get that serial number engraved on it, it is a tour club though!
MikeyO
Thanks for the help. I'm pretty sure it's legit due - the overall quality exceptional and some buddies of mine who work for TM in the UK have given it the once over and they say it's good. They're clueless as to the serial number though! Any idea on how i can check the tip size - is there an easy way of telling?
997777
I think you have to pull the shaft if you want to know the tip size. Maybe someone else knows a different way. If it's a tour model than its probably a .335 tip.
jungleheadjim
yes all tour models are .335. just because there are more shaft choices in that size.
