Volvo XC90 V8 :money:

I am more than likely going to purchase this car over the weekend and wanted to know if anybody has had any experiance with this Vehicle.

If so, did you test drive it and then took it home or did you check it out but bought another car such as a BMW X5, Acura MDX, Land Rover LR5.

What are your thoughts, how do they differ or compare?

Do you feel safe in your choice?

TSG, I am still buying the 300C

we just bought an s40, and my friend's dad bought and xc90 and he says he likes he a whole lot. i know from our car that it handles really well (cuz its a sports sedan) but its all in all really nice. You should feel safe in a volvo, after looking at all the saftey features and ratings they have. Can't go wrong, good luck!

I've had one for about a year. Great vehicle. Safety features galore. Goes well in the snow (Akron, OH). My only beef with mine is that the pickup is lacking a little. I have the 2004 T6 AWD. I bet the added power of the V8 will make a huge difference.

I checked out the other high end SUVs you mentioned and felt the Volvo was the better deal and safety for the offspring. Would buy the V8 in a heartbeat after driving the V6 for a year.

Guys Im done with Volvo forever...lol

To many problems, We have 1 S40 with 3000 miles on it that has been in the shop over 4 times and another 05 S40 that even the Volvo techs cant even work on.

My pal has an S60R 2005 took 1600 miles before they found it was a lemon.

The new volvo's have over 10 computers in them, your check engine light will go on much much more when you have this kind of technical stuff involved.

Volvo is sad, The head tech cant even turn off the annoying seat belt alarm or the running day lights without an upgrade download from the factory which they wont release for safety reasons.

I go through cars a little slower than clubs but Im the same critical me over the smallest things and I can tell you Volvo is nor a luxury car or performance car and I own 2 05's.

If your gonna go SUV go with the FX45 by Infinity.

just my 2 cents because i know how Volvo's work.

Here we go, This is Euro Ford, they are nothing like USA Ford, they use different motors designs and manufacturers. This new 2006 Focus ST shares the upcoming Volvo C30's chassis as well as the current S40's motor. This is good news for Volvo Aftermarket Enthusiasts.

my god the steering wheel's on the wrong side!

Chris, i guess the volvos you got were just coincidental because I know alot of people that have volvos and they've never had any problems with them out of the ordinary. Must be the clash of a swedish car in japan...

Im the Evolve Distributor, and own a Car shop, I am pals with the head Tech here at Volvo Hawaii. its not coincidental trust me.

If the tech employees can admit to me over a beer that Volvo's have more problems than most cars even Jaguar, I believe it.

When a mechanic cant turn off little things on his own i.e airbags, day lights, seat belt sound, its almost a Volvo monopoly on service.

I did have bad luck in the cars I have picked but its not far from what many others are experiencing.

I really hate to hear this but, I am glad it is now rather than after I bought the thing. I did test drive the XC90 V8 and it is a godamned rocket of an SUV. Loads of power and torq. Handles a wee bit front heavy but the transfer of power in AWD and the shifting are bad ass.

Unfelt and smooth as silk.

I guess all the dedicated work they put into it and level of safety makes it a little hard to not look at.

I will not worry about it just yet.

I will have to look further into it., my in-laws had a 940 Turbo and know own a S70 T5.

They have never had issues with either vehicles minor or major.

I will just have to be a little more critical now when I am ready to buy.

I will not tell my wife this info!!

She will get mad at me for bashing Volvo's.

Double AA,

Are you specifically looking for a suv? Or are you willing to compromise? I was all into getting a SUV, Escalade, Yukon, Durango etc. I went as far as to begin the process of negogiating on one. I was with my dad while he was getting our work van checked over, and came across a Subaru Outback. Jokingly I asked if I could take it for a test drive and they then proceeded to hand me the keys. 10 miles later I was hooked. I never thought a "grandpa" car would be up my alley, but checking the engine mods that can be done, I think I will be keeping this vehicle for a while. Roof rack, flat folding rear seats, awd, etc etc. I think you should give this vehicle a test run at least....

God Bless

Jer

Those Outbacks or Subaru's in general are no Joke!

They are great vehicles, but they do not appeal to me at all and I know I am being shallow but I just cannot get past the look.

The look of legacy is alright.

They do have a new Outback coming out next year that is supposed to be geared toward those that want the cars attributes without the boxy station wagon look.

Supposed to be a bold new style set for the SPORTY crowd.

I am still in the "decision" process as of know.

Either it is a Volvo, BMW, or a Mercedes, right now, I dunno.
