Posted February 20, 200520 yr I know for a fact (I ordered some) that there are new MW54 shafts that come in 2 different raw lengths..... there are some, esp from the US which are 48" long and start out at 204cpm at this raw length in stiff flex. I just obtained my new MW54 stiff flex from Japan and the raw length is 46" only. Haven't cpm'ed this shaft yet. This shaft is brand new with butt end sticker in place and shaft coating / finish untouched at both ends. Could this length difference be due to the fact that the MW54 shafts in the US are to cater for bore through heads? Someone can shed light on this? Thanks

They try to grab OEM market who have a bore through design. However, It makes the installation trickier but yet has more room to tweak around. Joe
February 21, 200520 yr So the longer shaft has an extra 2 inches of parallel tip section? Most likely! I'm trying to clarify it ASAP. From What i did so far, YES is the answer. Joe  ps: Good thing I never cut and glue the shaft, I was shock the first time i saw the number on the Freq machine. :surprize: but quickly realise what is going on.
February 21, 200520 yr BTW, All this new 48" lenght are applied to all new US Z COM series. Base on the US spec catalog, it shows that the paralel tip section is 2" longer compare to the speeder edition which are 46" total lenght. Joe
February 21, 200520 yr Author Attn all you guys interested in the MW54- I now have in my hands 2 raw / new MW54 shafts, one from US and the other from Japan. The US one is 48" in length and the Japanese one is 46" in length (NOTE that BOTH are uncut). The missing 2 inches have come off the TIP SECTION - I have held both shafts and using the ZCOM graphics as a guage, the tip section on the Japanese shaft is 2 inches shorter. So for those of you who have / or wish to play a MW54, and if you are getting the US shafts, pls bear this in mind, there is a longer tip section to, presumably, cater for bore thru heads!! Consider this my public service announcement for this year!!! Thanks.
