I just read where Hunter Thompson committed suicide last night. I had an opportunity to be part of a group that brought Mr. Thompson to Ripon College in the early 70's to speak. After a night of heavy drinking I couldn't help but be impressed by the unique workings of a brilliant mind yet terrified of the demons pursuing the man, whether imagined or real. If you have never read "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail" I highly recommend that you do so as they are marvelous entertainment. Tis a sad day as it appears the demons have won.
