DUBBED
I'd like to change the swing-weight of my driver about 2 points. What is the easiest way to do this and how much weight do I have to add? I was thinking about getting some of these. BTW I'll be doing this to a Nike Ignite 410. The easiest is using pliable lead epoxy that you can drop it from the butt end and ram it w/ a rod and plug it w/ cork. The nicest way doing it is pull the shaft out and put that lead weight and reglue. Good luck! Joe

TourGolfJeff
Dubbed, The ram rod and cork is not a good idea with graphite as the shaft can be damaged by the force of the rod. This is especially true of ultralight shafts. The ram rod works fine with steel shafts. To add the tip pin similar to the image you posted, the head would have to be removed - not really a practical idea to add only 2 points. Lead tape is the simplest way to add weight. Each 4 1/2" of 1/2" wide tape will add 1 swingweight. Jeff

The 0.5" tape I've always used will change the swing weight by one point by using roughly 1" of tape, maybe a shade more. To the original poster: Bottom line - weigh the tape. For every 2 grams of weight you add to the club head, you will increase the swing weight by about 1 point.

Jeff It's funny that Golfsmith, golfwroks, MITCHELL, and other fine supplier sell a couple size type ram rod for this application and i've been doing it for years and never have any problem w/ it , even to a 50's grams shaft.http://golfworks.com/item_disp.asp?pn=RR5 http://golfworks.com/item_disp.asp?pn=TW65 I don't see how technically people can damage the shaft doing this application, unless they use a ram rod that are bigger diameter that the inner diameter of the shaft and pounding it w/ feel not muscle. IMO Knowing or understanding how to handle our own tools and using a common sense to calculate whether it will work or not is the key. Hmm! Maybe you can share your experiences how the damage happend, So it could be a good lesson for a newbies here. Cheers! Joe
