haha....can u believe ive never played there....for some reason i cant bring myself to pay that much for that course......all the courses on my list are rather inexpensive......i have a friend who gets me on to spyglass and spanish bay for free.....all the other courses are under $100 and some are under $40.........between the cars, toys, golf and women....i gotta be somewhat thrifty !!! If i had the money, i would have put pebble beach and cordevalle and sharon heights on that list ! I like Stanford and San francisco club as well but i dont get on those courses often....In fact i have not played either this year : (

so far the yammie and egg that i got from u have been to Monarch Bay, Metropolitan, Cinnabar, Yocha Dehe, Presidio, Harding, Shadow Lakes, HiddenBrooke, DarkHorse, The Ridge, StoneTree, Peacock Gap

The finishing holes on the Old course are very picturesque! I haven't tried the Ocean course... yet.

Yes 18 on the old is probably one of the best holes I think I've ever witnessed/played. I played the Ocean course first and next to Bandon Dunes (which I've yet to get to), is the one of closest thing to a links course we have here on the west coast that I'm familiar with. I love links courses and the British Open is my favorite major, but sadly I haven't experienced those courses first hand. The Ocean course is great for views and proximity to the ocean but I do think I prefer the Old course better. I wish all the holes could be like 18 on the Old. However, that being said, I do really like both.

Now for Links, Robbie mentioned Spanish Bay which a great links course but I've only played it once, on my honeymoon, and unfortunately I don't have a friend there!!

Robbie - I didnt see Pasatiempo on your list

Last time up there I stopped at Pasatiempo just to get a look at the course briefly. I didn't have time to play but this is first on my list next time up the coast. I think my son is playing hockey a weekend in Vacaville in the upcoming season, so that'll probably be my chance to play here. From what I saw, this is a must play and the design looked awesome. Would love to get a closer look.

Hey Robbie, among your list there, how is Monarch Beach? Another club I've stopped at but didn't have enough time for.

Robbie- sounds like the yammy & egg are working out for you. The stiff LY-02 was a bit soft for me. In windy conditions, I'd sometimes have these awful hooks. Normal conditions would be about a 5-8 yd draw

i agree...i swapped out the stiff LY02 for a xstiff LY02.....for calm days, the stiff is perfect but for windy days and super long holes, the ly02 in stiff can easily be overloaded ! I found the xstiff to be perfect, i can hold it off for the smallest of fades and hit normal draws with it on full swings ! Even in xflex, the shaft has a bias for the left side and is easy to load....if i get a chance, i might try the LY02 in a 8.1 flex !

Monarch Bay is a course i play because it is in good condition for a muni and it is very cheap....only about 20-25 mins from san francisco and there are often green fee rates in the afternoon for $25 with cart on a weekend !!! ive recently started playing presidio because of the "player's club" special ! I can walk to the course and its only $18. If u are in vacaville, Yocha Dehe is not that far away ! Its about 45 mins each way ( i think ). Not too pricey but in impeccable shape ! Fast greens, plenty of length and very nice layout !

Thanks for the info on Yocha Dehe. Always good to get a heads up on courses up in NoCal. I'll take all the info I can get.

if u are going to play half moon bay...join the eclub, its free and the discounts are pretty good...i play twilight for 55 with cart

Paradise and Rancho Solano and Blue Rock SPrings are right by Vacaville and are avg courses at best, if u must be closer, giver Mare Island a whirl

Pasatiempo is worth it, this time of year twilite.

Dont go to the Presidio golf course unless u are Stew, ive been there a few times this week as a single walk on and have yet to outdrive a single person in my group ! i used to think i was crazy long and then i thought i was long and then i thought i was average length and now im a dinker who makes good contact ! im going to have to work out hard core and increase my flexibility in hopes of making it up to avg small hitter

So..... Robbie and FatMan...

I should come to town and we can have a TSG guy's day.....

Middle of August or late September works for me.....

Would be great to meet other TSG members!

Let me know when you'll be in town, I might be able to get you tickets.

Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara

After playing with Stew I'm not sure I want to play with guys that out drive me by 50-60 (or more) yards every time...... :)

Ah come on! Hahah, at least you're probably consistently straight...

haha...i understand the feeling....but it only happens to me at the Presidio, i went down to Poppy Hills yesterday and Hiddenbrooke today and i was the big stick......mostly good drives at 275 but i hit a few bombs over 325, had a PW in on #10, the short par5 very respectable drives everywhere but the Presidio. i would have to hit my 5 wood those distances to be a big boy there.....i also managed to step on my irons and pinch them a wee bit tighter for more length

SW=105, 9 iron = 150 7i=175

another 15 yards with the irons and 25 with the driver and im solid !!!! i cheat every way i can.....my lofts are very strong and shafts are long 3/4" and whippy.....im a slave to distance !

Ok guys, im hoping im around but i might be doing the Bandon Dunes/Hawaii golf trip for 2 weeks in Sept/Oct. If we nail down a date, i can work my trip around it ! :tsg_smiley_sun:

How does show up around Sept 30th give or take a couple of days.... Stay for 7-10 days??

Ok, that sounds good.......all fellow TSGers are invited to play with us in california......course rotations will include Half Moon Bay, Yocha Dehe, Poppy Hills, Spyglass and anything else u guys may like......If u dont have transportation, Ill pick u up , if its within reasonable distance, or along the way .....im in SF

Might be in France then but if not I'd drive up to the Bay area and play. Off your list I've only played Spyglass, not on the list I played Presidio. Harding Park is one I'd like to play.

I consider Harding a very very avg course at best......maybe because its in my backyard and the weather is terrible, but thats a course i avoid like the plague.........

Played with a fellow TSGer today and met another one at the Presidio. yep yep in keeping with the tradition of getting killed off the tee, only the TSG guy got me good....Although he was 120+, i only got outdriven by a nominal amount. I was killing it but definitely shorter....too many good sticks out here......way too many !!!
