Posted April 7, 200519 yr comment_90028 I'm hearing rumours the retail Titty Spin Mills won't have the same aggressive groove layout of the tour wedges and heavier milling marks either. Does anybody know this to be the case ?? Will Titleist be offering the tour satin chrome in retail ??? I've got a chance of a tour wedge and I'm going to take it if the retails are toned down. Help!
April 7, 200519 yr comment_90030 I ordered a 56* last week and was told that the retail spin-milled only come in satin. Hope he was right!!!!
April 7, 200519 yr comment_90041 From what I have scene locally, the spin milled comes in the satin finish standard. Pretty sweet looking.
April 7, 200519 yr comment_90065 Doesn't that seem kind of dumb, to mill the face and then coat it with chrome? I would think that raw would compliment the milled texture on face and grooves. JAT
April 8, 200519 yr comment_90097 I think the grooves on the retails will spin the ball quite well--near to/if not equal to the tours. My tour Spin Milleds are very heavy, raw finished, and custom ground--that'll be the differences.
April 8, 200519 yr comment_90098 A shop here got some in today along with a few drivers. All the wedges were satin. When I asked the owner he gave me a "huh?". He said he just ordered lofts and they arrived satin. While many, my self included, love the raw look, chrome is the huge favorite. A brushed or satin is a great mix that will most will play. If I hadn't bought a new driver and wedges last week, I would of brought a few home to snap pics. Will have to wait until next week when I change again :P
April 8, 200519 yr comment_90100 Almost forgot the grooves: Most OEMs will never produce retail grooves as sharp as tour grooves. Doesn't appeal to must customers. 90% of golfers buy clubs based on durabilty. Have you ever noticed how often a tour wedge lasts? Without the ultra sharp grooves, its just a retail wedge. Many touring pro's switch wedges every few weeks; PM is one of them. Not only durability, but also play. An average golfer doesnt even know how to use a wedge correctly, nor care. Until the highend/tour market is larger, we'll have to stick to pulling from the Vans or play retail. Chris
April 8, 200519 yr comment_90101 they come stadard in satin in the retails......im like the above said my tours are deeper and sharper grooves as well as a few grams heavier and custom grinds done on the van and to be honest def spin a touch more
April 10, 200519 yr comment_90326 I don't get it. I thought people spun the ball too much and now they want bigger grooves and huge milling marks. Phill likes satin because the chrome fills up the grooves and doesnt make the ball spin as much. I cant spin the ball for anything so its good for me. Aloha, Erich
