Mister64
I finally got my hands on a 580 XD TP but it's going to need a different shaft. I want to play it at 45 inches and D1 or D2. What has been your experience with reshafts on this clubhead and what kind of swingweight did you get? Thanks for your suggestions. NakedDave
I had Chip Usher install a Fujikura SIX shaft at 45" in my TM 580XD TP 8.5° head. FWIW, this particular head weighed in the neighborhood of 202-203 grams, which, as I'm told, will make the swingweight about D-1. You might want to consider a Fujikura Speeder 553 or 569. I have a 757 in my 510, was considering the same shaft in the 580.
NakedDave
I won't receive the club until Monday and will probably not be able to try it out until late next week. Sorry!
Mister64
I hit the 580XD TP I bought yesterday. I did not know the specs as far as swingweight and length when I bought it as I mainly wanted the clubhead. I played 18 holes with is and hit several balls on each tee. It has a larger sweetpot than my 510 TP and I might be a little longer. I am not sure yet as I did not control it well at all to my standards. After I hit it, I took it to a clubfitter and found out it was C8.5 and 45 1/2 inches long, with a light X flex. TOO LIGHT. I immediately had the shaft pulled. I am going to have it refinished to perfection, then reshaft it. The guy did not have a digital scale but what he had did read around 200 grams so I am hope to get those same D1 results. HoMStYLz
the XD TP's are nice drivers, but they were weak as hell, caved in a total of 7 heads in 5 months of use, incliding 4 in 3weeks, i like the driver alot but it gets fustraiting changing drivers every couple of weeks. everyone caved towars the toe area for some reason, but i guess thats going to happen with a SS of 120+. so far no problems with my R5 TP's thank god

Mister 64 Mister 64, I previously had a Fujikura ZCOM in the 580XD TP. I didn't like it at all .... too soft and too light. I replaced the $220+ Fujikura shaft with a Graphite Design YS-7 X-Flex 1/2" tipped and couldn't be happier. The dispersion and trajectory is exactly what I am looking for. The club length is 45" and the swingweight is D-1 1/2. It has the Golf Pride Dual Dorameter grip with 2 wraps of tape. Good Luck!
Mister64
Thanks for the tips. I did decide yesterday to stick a NV75 in it. We mocked up the club three times using a Fuji 569, a Blue, and a NV75. The NV75 came out just above D0. The others came out in the C range. The head much be lighter than normal. I hit it this morning and it seems really easy to control. There was about a 2 club wind into my face but I could get it up and keep it low. I will try to get out and hit a real golf ball with it tomorrow and get some real results but so far much better than when I hit it the first time. If I cave the face, will TM warranty a tour only club? Thanks for all the replies.
MrParr1noid
I don't think TM ever sold the 580XD TP as retail, therefore, TM would replace your driver with a 580XD retail, that is if they'd replace it at all. Once a driver is reshafted, this usually voids the warranty.
plus1
i have a six in my 580 xdtp and its the ticket....it flies long and straight...and due to the slightly higher torque it makes it easy to release!
