To those more knowledgeable than me (everyone on this forum) I want to learn about grove cleaning, maintenance, and repair. Especially for wedges. I searched online and found the Izzo club medic sharpening tool, see link. Are tools like this effective, or do they cause damage. I want to keep the grooves on my vokey oil cans in good condition. While I am on the course I gererally use a tee or the small flathead screwdriver blade on my leatherman to get dirt and sand out of my grooves.

What is the best tool and method to use, and what should be avoided? Thanks in advance for the knowledge.

I have that EXACT tool which is used to re-groove worn out faces, not to use during the round. If you want to straighten out and sharpen old wedges that tool works great, you just slide it back and forth through each groove a couple times and voila. If you need something to keep your grooves clean during a round get a little scrub brush or something. :cool:

to help keep grooves clean, before a round i will get a old wash cloth wet and put it in the back of the cart or on my bag. after a shot, i wipe the club with it, just like the pros. usually works really well. every once and a while i have to take a tee to the grooves.
