+TourSpecGirl
I have been playing a Callaway Steelhead Plus 3wd w/ stock Reg flex shaft since day one. There is a huge distance gap between my Driver and 3wd. My driver is a TM r7 MAX w/ GD W-60 Stiff shaft, but I also hit the TS X-Drive w/ GD M-65 Stiff really well too. A drive on the screws goes a good 225yds, but the same for the 3wd only 180 yds max. My Cally 3wd is an old club, and I was hoping a new one may add some distance. I'm very conservative when it comes to changing clubs. And I'm am looking for a new 3 wood that feels similar to the Callaway Steelhead Plus. I know there are many current and former Steelhead Plus users. Have any of you replaced it with something better? Also, any fairway wood shaft suggestions? Many thanks.. sam2011
i loved my steelhead plus, sometimes i wish i never got rid of it. if you like the way it sets up, try the new big bertha fairways, theyre somewhat similar. also i heard the fusion fairways are decent. also, you cant go wrong with sonartec. lastly, if you can track down a TM 300 tour, theyre also good for distance. sometimes when mine's in my bag, it comes within 10 yards of my driver if i strike it solid and square. someone told me the R5 fairways are similar in distance to the 300 tour, so you might want to give that a shot as well. as far as shafts go, go demo a bunch and see what you like for feel. i like the fuji vistas for fairway shafts, and the old-school EI-70's. good luck!
