Trump, being the guy he is, wants to rebuild the world trade center to it's former glory. He says that the proposed freedom tower is "a disgrace," and by building the terroists "get what they wanted." If the WTC was built back to the way it was, Trumpsays it shows "strength and power of the US." By all means, I think this should be done. It will show those jerks that it doesn't matter what you do to us, we will prevail in the end. At the same time though, rebuilding them back will, in my opinion, make people forget what happend on that day. Two buildings that look the same as the ones before will make it seem like it never happened, so in a way, I also like the freedom tower. But, the design and the way the floor plan is (offices only up to 70 stories, steel skeleton after that up to 1776 feet) makes the thing ugly and unpractical.

I don't know. If those jerks never did this in the first place, we wouldn't have this issue.

Strength in character comes sometimes and unfortunatly at a hefty price!

But, when faced with adversity, those who stand above all else, are those whom do not quiver and shy away from the hatred and injustice toward humanity.

Life without change would equal a glass with no water, EMPTY!

If we rebuild the WTC, that would generate a much louder and more profound reminder and statement of what happened on 9/11.

Not only will it show that terrorism in any form has done very little to plant the seed of fear in our way of life, It has just fed the fire of resolution, resolution to a plague that uses a blanket of religion and innocence to carry out horrific and unhuman actions of carnage againts those who fight suppression and dictatorship!

They CANNOT do enough to make me fear them, they CANNOT move my foundation of American pride and freedom, they will NEVER be able to equal or erase the existance of Democracy!

:finger: Terrorism!

This issue really hits home for me. My wife & I knew over 40 people killed that day, including my wife's beloved father, and her co-worker, who literally sat right next to her at work.

My father-in-law sat on the 100th floor of Tower 1...he never stood a chance.

While it's admirable to say 'let's show the terrorists who's boss', it is not reality.

The only reason my father-in-law's company, Marsh (aka cheap bastards) occupied the upper floors of that tower is because the rental was cheaper than anywhere in lower Manhattan. Why was it so cheap? Because no one wanted to go up there after the '93 bombing. So the owner had to price the real estate at a hefty discount to get tennants.

Bottom line is, you are never going to fill those towers again. No one will want to be up there, because it is NOT safe and those buildings will ALWAYS be a target.

BTW, I believe the 'Freedown Tower' is also an eyesore. It will look out of place in lower Manhattan. If someone did not have development rights to the location, it would be a memorial. While ideal, I know this is not reality. The almighty dollar always prevails.

Sad, really.

I think Trump is right.

We should rebuild the same towers. The NYC skyline changed forever that day. I have seen the plans for the freedom tower and others for the site. What ever they build it will be the safest building known to man. The freedom tower walls would have been 2 feet thick of concrete and steel so the buildings core would be a safe haven. Thats what they are aiming for.
