Heavier Graphite Shafts for Irons

Hey guys, I just wanted to see if anyone playing heavier graphite in their irons could give me some reviews.

I am looking at getting some Gauge irons  and while I'd love to try some NS pros, my initial impression of them in some Tourstage irons was that they didn't absorb as much shock as graphite. But they do feel fantastic.

I've thought about some MCC 115's, but if anyone here has tried GAT 105's or 115's, or if the new Aldila NV (will it ever be released?), I'd be interested in hearing about those as well. Also, if anyone has a price range on the GAT's, that would be great.

Thanks for the time and reviews.

Kyle

Kyle,

I have been considering the switch to heavy graphites (115+gr) due to an elbow injury. I have researched this issue to death and everytime the Apache MFS115 were constantly rated 1 or 2. Here are the ones I found and the pricing.

1. Apache MFS115 $32.00 ea.

2. UST ProForce Rv115 $20.50ea. (read really nice reviews on these)

3. Penley IMS115 $39.00ea.

4. GD GAT-115 $55.00ea.

5. Aldila NV125 $75.00+ each (no reviews on these yet but at that price they can kiss my a$$!)

Hope this gives you enough to look further into it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply... I had heard that the NV's would be closer to the GAT's in price. Now I'm going to kick myself for not saving a set of Loomis Tour shafts  Oh wait, I would have gotten then in X-stiff, and there's no way I could hit those now.

I just got of the phone w/ aldila and they said the NV iron shafts will be 45.00 ea.

I called to get a couple of extra wedge shafts, I play the TGI-120's in a set of cleveland ta3mc's and love them. When I asked about the TGI-120

I was told they have some sets left and that they would sell them for 15.00 ea!!!! Full set of tour grade heavy weight shafts for 150.00!

Can't beat that!!! :surprize: :smile1: :smile2:

from what I know they made tgi-120 and tgi-100 120 and 100 gram. they are available in both taper and parallel.

The TGi's are a constantweight shaft with progressively stiffer tips. They are pre cut to length and are available in either taper or parallel tip. They call their launch profile low-mid. The aldila freq methodology: butt clamp

at 6.25" head weight is given in their chart.

The TGi 100 "R"; weight = 100g, freq. 275-335, torque 2.0-2.5

The TGi 100 "S"; weight = 102 g, freq 290-352, torque 2.0-2.5.

The TGi 120 "S"; weight = 117g, freq. 290-352, torque 2.0-2.5

The TGi 120 "X"; weight = 119g, freq. 300-360, torque 1.3-1.8

they seemed willing to sell to me and I am a nobody...call the 800 number...
