Getting taper ferrules to fit

Recommended Posts

Re-shafted a set of irons and was able to save 7 of 8 ferrules and they came out real nice. I bought a pacakge of (supposedly) taper ferrules when I bought the shafts from leaderboard, - anticipating needing them for all the clubs. So I had to use one. Well it didn't match, which I was ok with, but its bigger diameter and sticks out over the hosel and looks like,... well,... s**t. Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you want it to look right, you should take the club to a (good) clubmaker and have him turn it down on a cloth belt. I use a 42" belt sander with one of Golfsmith's linen belts to turn down my ferrules, then polish them up with some acetone to make them nice and pretty. Be VERY careful who you take the club to, though...it has been my experience that 99% of all "clubmakers" don't know how to properly turn a ferrule.
