Posted September 2, 200519 yr hey guys just wondering has anyone tested these tourstage viq forged irons? just came accross them there and thought they looked sweet! any reviews or feedback would be cool, especially on the feel and forgiveness! ps does anyone know if the turbo rubber actually works?
September 5, 200519 yr I've tried them at the range in Hong Kong with NS Pro 950GH R & S flex. They are very forgiving as far as player CB is concerned & have a super feel, soft but plenty of feedback. Ball flight is high probably due to the massive cavity at the bottom. I haven't checked the specs but when I flushed it, the ball seemed to fly further than my MR23 US spec CB. As you may already know, the finishing is excellent. I also want to get this set & am waiting for the right deal. This set of iron is used by the most popular female JLPGA player Ai Miyazato though she uses graphite shafts.
September 5, 200519 yr Author spot on, thanks for the feedback....these do look purdy! ps what size are they in comparison to the mr23 us spec? and how do they compare in terms of feel in comparison?
September 6, 200519 yr The size of the ViQ forged club head is slightly larger than the MR23 US spec & have more offset & thicker top line. The US spec is obviously less forgiving & ball flight is lower. Feel wise they are pretty much the same, both soft but not mushy with the US spec gives you more feelback when you do not hit the sweet spot, and the feel is not harsh. One needs a steady & consistent swing to fully utilise the US specs hence the urge to ho the ViQ forged. Both sets are excellent but the US spec is more demanding & I believe only 1500 sets of MR23 US spec CB are made.
September 6, 200519 yr I have had these irons in the bag for a short while, very easy to hit with a smooth swing, the sole grind just glides through the turff or ruff. The feel is the normal tourstage forged feel. The ViQ forged have a low C.O.G helping to get the ball up with ease. I had mine re-shafted with X-100's at that time and it gave me a perfect medium trajectory. I hear they work like gems with the stock graphite shaft for slower swing speeds too.
September 6, 200519 yr Author thanks chris....but IYHO ( in your honest opinion) hoe do these compare to the gauge nc1s
