AKFLY
Entered all my info into shaft fit for irons: If I go with a tour weight - they recommend a DGX100 If I go average weight - they recommend a DGX100 If I go light weight - the recomend a DG SL S300 (huh ????) I have always used DG S300 - more by default as they are standard issue. I liked PX 6.0 staright in a TM 300 but in a Z101 I liked it soft stepped (too much info.). Nice shaft but not worth the $$$$ IMO. 6.0 TFR was not too stiff but produced a higher ball flight. Anyway my ball flight is high - more do so to operator error - so I am not looking for a higher launching shaft. I hit a 7 iron 160, have a fast temp, more of a sweeper with small shallow divots. Most shots are high draw - and misses are left. If I go DGX100 should I soft step once to be safe as I may be borderline?
Lowpro
soft step the x-100's...... best option to keep the ball launch down or tappered off some.. surprised you did not like the PX's,,, and if your going light weight -- DG-X100 SL's.... do not understand the sl300's your were given as a choice... AKFLY
Thanks - Ken PX was alright - nothing too special - it is a long winter plenty of time to tinker.
murch
Any more info you can share in regards to your technique? Do you maintain your lag/wrist angles when coming into to impact or do you loose them and perhaps come over a few? Your miss left, is it straight left or does it start right and turn over? A fast tempo that is shallow can often either be over it a little or loosing lag/wrist set early. This would make sense if you are a high ball hitter as you would add loft at impact. Shaft weight and profile can assist this, however correct diagnosis of swing tendencies is important. Dont choose X100 just to knock the flight down IMO. DG SL shafts play a little more harsh than DG and all players I have witnessed find this sensation. Depending on your correct shaft length I would stay with a heavier shaft weight especially if you have a quick tempo and load it heaps. TT Tour Concept shafts would also perhaps fit the bill. All the best. Chris M
AKFLY
Thanks for the replies so far. Just to clarify some points : I am not looking for a shaft to lower my flight. I am not looking for the magic shaft that will add 10 yards. I am looking for the right fit were I will not loose any yardage but will have maximum accuracy potential and the right feel. I have a set of irons on the way with S300 in them - they are to short -and yes I can simply extend them - but I love to tinker. I have ruled out the SL option - as I am leary of going to an ultralight. I am leaning to a soft stepped X100 since I feel I am borderline. If I had the $$$$$$ I would try TC - or even go back to PX. felix
Another option that you could think about is flattening out your clubs to help with your misses that you said went left. I agree that if you are flipping at the ball at impact will cause you to hit the ball higher and miss it to the left. The other option is getting dgs400 and soft stepping those to play like a s300, because s4 is a little heavier than s3. That will help with getting the ball flight down and will go a little less left.
