The testers are 1) japan pro with club head speed of 50m/s, 2) a lady JLPGA pro with club head speed 40m/s & 3) amateur with club head speed 43m/s. Drivers specs are 9* or 9.5*. All together they hit 1,520 balls over a period of 27 hours at three different places. Two outdoor ranges at golf courses & one indoor range for recorging various data. Drivers are mainly divided into three categories, 1) high cor, 2) comply with USGA rules, 3) Japanese domestic components. The final results for the longest 8 drivers are: 1) YY Cyberstar Nanov/ 0.83 cor ( ave dist ) 280.1 yds 2) Yamaha inpres 350v/high cor 279.2 3) X-drive 405 HR /high cor 278.8 4) Team Yoshimura / high cor 272.9 5) XXIO / high cor 272.7 6) X-drive 405 /0.83 cor 271.9 7) PRGR TR-X Duo /high cor 271.7 8) Callaway X18 / high cor 270.8 It's interesting to note that the winner of this contest is by a .83 cor driver. Almost all majar Japanese manufacturers are preparing for 2008 by launching USGA compliance drivers in 2006. Next year will be a busy year in testing drivers. Wishing you all a properous 2006.

YUP, read that..the Japanese call it the annual D-1 GP (grand prix)..one thing to note and share is that for the 50 m/s guy, the top distance was produced by Cleveland Launcher NC-X @ 294 yds.

January 9, 200619 yr comment_112806 Sorry but I’m skeptical. Golf Digest’s US test are swayed but ad revenue as are Golf Magazine. It’s an old practice in the business. Let’s face it the OEM’s have exhausted driver design at this point. A conforming head beating a Hi-COR… hard to believe. If so I’ll ask NASA to hire them.
