FairwayFred
I just picked up a nice black head Gauge Japan Tour Zero. Anyone know if this thing is carbon steel or stainless?
+TourSpecGolfer
I just picked up a nice black head Gauge Japan Tour Zero. Anyone know if this thing is carbon steel or stainless? Its SS303 with a 340 gram head. Its a good putter but needs milling marks and some added weight. With no milling marks its setup for fast greens. Perhaps somthing you can add with your CNC machine? I am just not sure I really want to take the time to work on it. It is a very nice putter has a very nice solid feel. IMO really the perfect anser style shape. I will agree it does need some extra weight. I prefer my putter heads around 375g minimum. Edited January 21, 2006 by FairwayFred

xxio
Chris, Interesting with "the no milling marks for faster greens". From experience I would tend to agree. Also less loft as well.

Never knew that milling marks affect the speed of the roll - interesting.
xxio
Never knew that milling marks affect the speed of the roll - interesting. AK, My experience/ thinking is more, the faster and smoother the greens the purer the ball will roll on it's on with a decent stroke because the skidding action on the first few inches seem to be less affected by the conditions. The milling marks help when the green is not so smooth and not so fast because it will promote the less skid type action. Just my theory from playing extreme differing conditions.
