golfdr
What is the difference between the Srixon W505 US conforming and the Srixon 506 US release ? If this has been discussed before, I could not find the thread.
acrazygolfer
W505 - The face & crown material is made of 15-3-3-3 ti while the sole is built with KS120 titanium and the body with KS100 titanium. Also there are 3 non-removable tungsten nickel weight ports. W506 - body is built of cast 6AL-4V ti and face is with forged 6AL-4V ti. No visible weight ports. In short, the material used in the W505 is more expensive than the W506. Both are based on Srixon’s proprietary Impact Power Body Construction. The Impact Power Body means there are variations in the wall thicknesses of the face, sole and backwall which result in deformation of the entire clubhead instead of just the face as in traditional drivers. This phenomenon allows longer contact time between ball and club which optimizes launch conditions – low spin with high launch angle. I've hit both and both are good drivers. Think of MBZ AMG versus standard MBZ. Given the recent explosion of construction/development in China, I'm surprise the price of raw titanium has not gone off the scale.
