Recently, I got PRGR DATA 801 Forged Graphite M43 Shaft from my local golf discount shop. I do bought it's because the seller said the original prices when new (1999) was 280,000 yen (>$2,000!!!!) and now they give me 60% discount.

I try the club and found it's very soft and solid feeling, shaft also very good too. Compair to my old club VIQ Premium Forged (ns pro 950) which I really love it, I have to admit the PRGR produce better result and feeling. But I still love my VIQ it's look beautiful when in my bag (Tourstage) :tsg_smiley_laughatyou:

Some body said this boys, the last one forged by Miura, when PRGR not have their own forging houses. After series 8 end, the series 9 was all foged by somebody else (or Chaina ???) made the PRGR club is cheeper than before.

After switch PRGR and VIQ in-out my bag for several time within 3 months. Now VIQ is sleeping in the box and PRGR is my sword. It is very diffical to select one for me, the VIQ is very popular, good looking and the feeling - result also good to me. But there are something make me moe confidence when grap PRGR in my hands. I may be go back to VIQ sometime after few months, But now I'm enjoy with my DATA very 801. :tsg_smilie_wink:

Thanks for reading

i am told they make their clubs in Japan, yet my best guess is they are done by Endo.

Many a good tune is played on an old fiddle!!

So true!

I reshafted my barely used (5 rounds) M40 graphite shafted Data 801's with Black Golds R flex a month ago, and now I love them again.

The 120g steel shafts, cut to 37" on the 6 iron, required a lot of lead to bring them up to D2, because the original M40 graphites were 81g(3i) to 88g(PW,AW,SW) with the 6 iron at 37.75".

Luckily, my fitter is one of the best in SEAsia, and he was more than up to the task.

Time to re-re-shaft my 690.CB's with Black Golds. The soft stepped PX 5.5's which replaced the original Rifle 5.0 flighted just don't have the zip that I had hoped for.

Yeah, old fiddles can play good tunes!
