RE*AX TP 85 Shaft in the R7 TP

Does anyone have experience with this combination? I might be getting a set of R7 TPs and this along with NS PRO 950GH S is a consideration. Specs sound quite good - 87 grams in stiff - but my concern is that they appear to be a low-ish kick (high flying) shaft in a relatively low flight head. Anyone played this combo? I have a medium to late release, strong transition and have about 160+ carry with the 7 iron - would I probably get better dispersion and ball flight with the Nippons?

It is indeed a low kick shaft while the Nippons are mid kick. What do you currently play? Graphite in your irons?

I play the Callaway Fusion irons with the NS Pro 990 Uniflex shaft which is also mid-kick. Weight is pretty good - Dynamic Golds feel like they take too much effort to swing - and I also like the feel of Nippons, although a slightly more penetrating flight would be even better. I've been considering getting graphite in a new set of irons though because my elbows get a bit sore.

The R7 TPs interest me and the RE*AX 85 seem not to be too light for graphite - which is good - but I'm just concerned it could play a little loose with it being low kick.

Thanks Gocchin.

My guess is that the graphite will not launch too much higher than the Nippons. The torque is very close to the same and I personally haven't seen too many TM graphite shafts that are truly low kick, they are always more like mid. I had a set of TM 85 graphite shafts in the low launching RAC LT and while the shots were higher than steel they were in no way ballooning. With your higher swing speed it is possible that they may play a little loose for you but you will get the softer graphite feel helping shot absorption and probably just as good distance. Then again you also cannot go wrong with the Nippons. I do not have experience with the uniflex ones but the 850GH and 950GH are very smooth and accurate shafts. The feel is definitely there.
