Sonartec GS vs. RC CV Pro

Hey, guys;

Long time no see! I'm looking for a couple of new fairway woods and I'm most interested in either RC's or Sonartecs. I was just wondering if the new Sonartec GS is the same head as the RC CV Pro. They have very similar paint scheme but don't know if they're identical. I'm especially interested to know whether the GS head is smaller than the CV. :atsg_smilie_gauge:

Sonartec GS Tour:

3-wood 13° 147cc

3-wood 14° 147cc

3-wood 15° 147cc

5-wood 18° 140cc

RC Cv Pro:

13° 147cc

14° 147cc

15° 147cc

16° 144cc

18° 140cc

20° 131cc

22° 127cc

So the models that are available as Sonartecs are the same size in volume at least. I'm guess for manufacturing reasons they are identical. Swingweight is 1 point higher for Sonarctecs and shafts are 0.5" longer.

Hmm . . . I was hoping they're not identical but it sounds like they are? I've hit the CV PRO's when it first came out a couple years ago and didn't particularly care for it. :tsg_smilie_surprise:

I'll probably pick up a the old SS-03 14* and SS-02 17* again.

Wood tooling prices are pretty expensive and these two look the same and have the same volume and feel/performance. Its ok, imo for all those who didnt want to put the coin down on some expensive RC gear you now have another option.

If you guys need any custom built Sonartec clubs feel free to drop me a PM, we even have the bendable hosel version to adjust your lie/loft/face angle.

If the GS Tour is the old C.V Pro is their a USA version of the BBD Type H or H2 yet?

Not yet, if the Sonartec follows in the same pattern, the H2 would be the model after the GS Pro.

The BBD H apparently is the SS2.5.

Why don't you wait a month or so for the new RC fd from Japan. I am sure Chris would be getting them soon. The difference, between RC and Sonartec, I believe, is the shaft each uses. I personally would buy and use a stock RC but not a stock Sonartec. This is just a personal preference for the Japanese versions for most brands i.e. TM, Callaway and Mizuno.

Could be, with the older models they all look very similar and I didn't look at the stats for that one. ^^

What could the SS-2.5 and SS-3.5 head be then :tsg_smiley_question:

(Great heads BTW)

I had a small conversation on WRX with the US Sonartec Guy and he would not admit that Sonartec uses old RC heads - he was very stubborn and almost offended that I dare post what was most likely true - new Sonartec heads are old Royal Collection heads :tsg_smiley_bump:
